This role ensures sales targets are met, margins are maintained, customer traffic grows, and budtenders deliver best-in-class service with strong upselling skills. The GM spends the majority of time on the sales floor — coaching, observing, and supporting the team — while ensuring compliance, inventory accuracy, and operational standards are consistently upheld. In addition, the GM is expected to actively drive new customer acquisition and brand awareness through local community engagement, outreach, and relationship-building within the store's surrounding trade area. Key Responsibilities Sales & Store Performance Drive store-level sales, margin, traffic, and customer acquisition KPIs. Monitor daily sales reports and identify opportunities to improve performance, increase average ticket, and grow transaction volume. Coach budtenders on upselling, product knowledge, customer engagement, and converting customer interactions into sales. Ensure promotions are correctly executed in the POS, in-store displays, and customer conversations. Use sales trends, customer feedback, and local market knowledge to identify opportunities for growth. Team Leadership & Coaching Lead and motivate budtenders during shifts to achieve sales, service, and outreach-related goals. Provide real-time feedback on upselling, customer service interactions, loyalty signups, and customer conversion opportunities. Support onboarding and training of new staff, with content delivered by Operations/HR. Reinforce adherence to company SOPs and standards during daily operations. Set the tone for a sales-driven, customer-first culture through active floor leadership. Customer Experience Actively engage with customers to set the standard for service excellence. Increase loyalty signups at the store level and ensure customers are educated on available promotions, products, and benefits. Resolve in-store customer incidents and escalate issues when necessary. Create and execute a community engagement and outreach plan to bring in new customers, increase repeat visits, and improve brand awareness within a 5-7 mile radius of the store. Build relationships with nearby businesses, community partners, local events, and neighborhood organizations to support customer growth and brand visibility. Identify local outreach opportunities that can directly support sales, traffic growth, and customer retention. Operational Excellence Oversee daily opening/closing, cash handling, and compliance procedures. Conduct spot checks for inventory accuracy and expired product management. Ensure merchandising and promotional setups meet company standards and support sales goals. Monitor labor schedules created by AICs/operations team to ensure efficiency and proper floor coverage during peak traffic periods. Maintain store readiness for customers, compliance reviews, audits, and community-facing visits. Store Presence & Accountability Spend the majority of working hours on the sales floor, not in the back office. Lead by example during peak traffic times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Provide shift-based performance updates to the Director of Store Operations. Track progress against sales, traffic, loyalty, outreach, and customer engagement goals. Take ownership of store-level execution, including sales performance, customer experience, team accountability, and local market growth. Qualifications 3+ years retail management or supervisory experience, preferably in cannabis, alcohol, or other regulated industries. Proven ability to drive sales performance, margin growth, customer traffic, and repeat business at the store level. Experience with local outreach, community engagement, grassroots marketing, or customer acquisition preferred. Strong coaching and team leadership skills with a hands-on management style. Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution skills. Strong knowledge of POS systems, inventory control, and compliance processes. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and peak retail hours as needed. Key Competencies Sales-driven mindset with operational discipline.
