Job Description

Position Overview The Part-Time Supervisor is a front-line leadership role responsible for overseeing daily pool deck operations, supporting swim instructors, and delivering an exceptional experience for members and their families. This role bridges the gap between hourly staff and management, ensuring lessons run smoothly, safety protocols are upheld, and every family who walks through our doors feels welcomed and valued. Key Responsibilities Pool Deck & Lesson Oversight Monitor lane assignments, swim levels, and instructor-to-student ratios throughout each session Step in to cover or support lessons as needed to maintain consistent programming Ensure a safe, clean, and organized pool environment at all times, including pre- and post-session checks Team Support & Development Provide real-time coaching and feedback to instructors during lessons Assist with onboarding new team members and reinforcing BBSS service and safety standards Communicate staff performance observations to the Assistant Manager or General Manager Model a positive, energetic team culture on and off the pool deck Member & Family Experience Greet and connect with families in the lobby and observation areas to build rapport and community Address parent questions, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally Escalate complex member issues to management while maintaining a positive family experience Support Net Promoter Score (NPS) goals by consistently delivering warm, attentive service Operations & Safety Open and/or close the facility following established protocols, including safety and sanitation checklists Monitor water chemistry logs and flag any issues to management immediately Enforce all BBSS safety policies including emergency action plans and fecal incident protocols Ensure accurate attendance tracking and lesson documentation Qualifications Required Minimum 1 year of experience in aquatics, swim instruction, or a customer-facing supervisory role Current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire) Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with children and families Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Must be able to stand for extended periods and work in a warm, humid pool environment Preferred Prior experience as a swim instructor or aquatics team lead Experience supporting adaptive aquatics or special needs programming Bilingual communication skills are a plus in serving diverse communities What We Offer Competitive hourly pay with opportunities for advancement into full-time management A fun, mission-driven workplace where you make a real difference every day Complimentary or discounted swim lessons for you and your family Ongoing training in aquatics, leadership, and customer experience A team culture built on positivity, accountability, and community
