Job Description
Position Summary The Printshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the printshop, ensuring jobs are priced accurately, completed efficiently, billed correctly, and delivered with a high level of customer service. This position serves as the communication hub between customers, sales staff, and the production team while leading a small team of 4-5 employees. This role requires strong organizational ability, math skills, and critical thinking. The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects at once, prioritize workflow, communicate effectively, and solve problems quickly in a fast-paced environment. Graphic design experience is beneficial but not required if the candidate demonstrates strong operational, communication, and leadership abilities. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Communication Communicate professionally with customers in person, over the phone, and through email Gather job specifications and provide accurate information regarding timelines, pricing, and production capabilities Work closely with sales staff to ensure customer expectations, deadlines, and project details are communicated clearly Resolve customer concerns and production issues in a professional and timely manner Estimating, Pricing & Billing Price print jobs accurately based on materials, labor, equipment usage, and production time Prepare estimates and quotations for customers and sales staff Review completed jobs for proper billing and invoicing accuracy Monitor profitability and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and margins Production & Workflow Management Coordinate and prioritize daily workflow within the printshop Ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule Maintain organization of job tickets, production schedules, and project documentation Monitor quality control throughout the production process Assist with troubleshooting production or scheduling conflicts Inventory & Purchasing Maintain accurate inventory levels of paper, toner, supplies, and production materials Order supplies as needed while controlling waste and unnecessary spending Track usage trends and help manage production costs Team Leadership Lead and supervise a small team of 4-5 employees Provide direction, training, and support to staff members Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and professionalism Assist in evaluating employee performance and workflow efficiency Required Skills & QualificationsRequired Core Skills Strong organizational skills Strong math and estimating ability Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Leadership and team management ability Attention to detail and accuracy Preferred Qualifications Experience in print production, print estimating, or printshop operations Experience with billing, invoicing, or inventory management Knowledge of printing equipment, materials, and production workflows Basic graphic design experience or familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus, but not required Work Environment Fast-paced printshop and customer service environment Frequent multitasking and deadline-driven work Combination of office, customer interaction, and production floor responsibilities Key Traits for Success Organized Reliable Detail-oriented Self-motivated Strong communicator Calm under pressure
