Job Description
Position Summary The Storekeeper is responsible for maintaining organized, clean, and efficient storage areas within Winters Dining Hall at Campbellsville University. This position manages inventory, receives and stores food and supplies, monitors stock levels, and ensures products are properly rotated and secured. The Storekeeper plays a key role in supporting daily dining operations and may assist in other food service areas during peak meal periods, special events, and catering functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inventory Management Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries for accuracy, quality, and proper temperatures. Store products according to food safety and sanitation standards. Maintain accurate inventory records for food, beverages, disposables, chemicals, and operational supplies. Conduct routine inventory counts and assist with weekly inventory reporting. Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment needs to management. Ensure proper product rotation using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures. Minimize waste through proper storage, handling, and inventory control practices. Storage Area Management Maintain all dry storage, refrigerated, and freezer areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Label and organize products to promote efficiency and accessibility. Ensure storage areas meet health department, food safety, and university standards. Monitor temperatures and report equipment concerns promptly. Assist with maintaining security of inventory and storage areas. Deliver supplies and products to serving areas, production areas, retail locations, and catering operations as needed. Cleaning and Organization Perform routine cleaning of storage rooms, shelving, coolers, freezers, and receiving areas. Remove cardboard, packaging materials, and other waste in a timely manner. Keep work areas free of clutter and safety hazards. Support departmental sanitation and deep-cleaning initiatives as assigned. Maintain organized storage systems that allow staff to quickly locate products and supplies. Operational Support Assist kitchen, serving line, retail, catering, and dish room operations during peak service periods. Help transport products and supplies throughout the dining facility. Assist with event setup, breakdown, and special projects. Support team members in maintaining efficient meal service for students, faculty, staff, and guests. Perform other food service duties as assigned to meet operational needs. Safety and Compliance Follow all Campbellsville University, Dining Services, and food safety policies and procedures. Adhere to proper lifting, handling, and storage techniques. Maintain compliance with HACCP, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. Report safety concerns, damaged products, or equipment issues to management promptly. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous inventory, warehouse, stockroom, receiving, or food service experience preferred. Basic computer skills and ability to maintain inventory records. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable, detail-oriented, and customer-service focused. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push and pull carts, racks, and inventory throughout the facility. Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders as needed. Work Environment This position operates in a fast-paced university dining environment and may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Flexibility is essential to support dining hall operations, campus events, and catering functions.
Pay:
$13.00 - $14.00 per hour
