Dairy Supervisor

Position Overview The Dairy Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the dairy department, ensuring product freshness, proper merchandising, and an efficient workflow. This role leads the dairy team in maintaining high in-stock conditions, minimizing shrink, and delivering a clean, organized shopping experience while supporting overall store sales and operational goals. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Supervise daily dairy operations including receiving, stocking, rotation, and inventory control Maintain proper cold chain management to ensure product freshness and quality Monitor and manage inventory levels to reduce out-of-stocks and shrink Ensure backroom organization and efficient product flow Customer Service & Sales Provide excellent customer service and assist with product location and inquiries Maintain full, fresh, and appealing shelves to drive sales Support promotional displays and ensure accurate pricing and signage Team Leadership & Development Lead, train, and support dairy clerks to ensure productivity and task completion Assign daily responsibilities and monitor performance Promote a positive and accountable team environment Support hiring and onboarding efforts as needed Merchandising & Standards Ensure proper product rotation (FIFO), date checks, and removal of outdated items Maintain clean, well-organized cases, coolers, and storage areas Execute company merchandising standards and seasonal plans Food Safety & Compliance Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures Monitor refrigeration equipment and report any issues immediately Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety standards Operational & Financial Support Assist with inventory counts, ordering accuracy, and shrink control initiatives Track department performance including sales, waste, and labor Support efficient labor usage to meet department goals Qualifications Previous dairy, grocery, or retail experience preferred Knowledge of perishable product handling and rotation practices Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled environment Basic math and computer skills Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays Key Competencies Customer Focus Attention to Detail Product Freshness & Rotation Leadership & Team Development Time Management Operational Execution Work Environment Refrigerated retail environment Frequent lifting, stocking, and bending (up to 40-60 lbs) Exposure to cold temperatures for extended periods Fast-paced, team-oriented setting
