Job Description

Your Role The Lead Mechanic / Shop Manager is a high-impact role responsible for overseeing all shop operations and heavy equipment maintenance/repairs to ensure construction projects are supplied with safe, reliable, and properly functioning equipment. Acts as the primary resource for equipment planning, maintenance scheduling, repairs, inventory management, and vendor coordination. Responsibilities As the Shop Manager at WES Construction Corp., your responsibilities will include: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues on heavy construction equipment Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents to identify equipment requirements and ensure all projects are properly equipped to meet production and safety goals Manage the scheduling, allocation, and transportation of construction equipment across multiple job sites Evaluate, source, and coordinate equipment rentals, purchases, deliveries, and pickups while maintaining cost-effective vendor relationships Maintain inventory of parts, tools, consumables, and shop supplies to support efficient repair and maintenance operations Maintain accurate maintenance records, service schedules, equipment histories, and repair documentation Perform welding and fabrication work as needed for equipment repairs, modifications, and custom applications We Are Seeking a Candidate With 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair 2+ years in a shop manager or lead mechanic position Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs and equipment lifecycle management Experience managing vendor relationships, equipment procurement, and inventory control Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with field personnel, management, and vendors Ability to assess project requirements and determine the appropriate equipment needed for successful job completion Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational, planning, and coordination abilities Welding experience is a plus This is a union position.
