Carr Hardware is seeking a Paint Department Manager / Keyholder to oversee our Paint Department while serving as a key member of the store leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong sales and merchandising skills with leadership, organization, and a customer-first mindset. Position Summary The Paint Department Manager / Keyholder is responsible for the daily operation, sales growth, merchandising, inventory management, and customer service performance of the Paint Department. As a Keyholder, this position also assists with opening and closing the store, supports store operations, and serves as a leader on duty when management is not present. The ideal candidate enjoys building customer relationships, coaching team members, solving problems, and creating a positive shopping experience for every customer. What You'll Do Paint Department Leadership Manage all aspects of the Paint Department to drive sales and profitability Maintain exceptional department appearance, merchandising, and product presentation Ensure inventory accuracy, stock levels, and ordering are maintained Monitor and manage department margins and promotional programs Develop strong product knowledge across paints, stains, sundries, and related products Assist customers with color selection, product recommendations, and project solutions Build relationships with contractors, property managers, and DIY customers Coordinate department resets, seasonal changes, and vendor programs Customer Service & Sales Deliver outstanding customer service and project-based selling Proactively engage customers throughout the store Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently Promote add-on sales and complete project solutions Support company sales initiatives and store goals Keyholder Responsibilities Open and close the store following company procedures Perform cash handling and daily reconciliation duties Serve as manager on duty when required Assist with safety, security, and loss prevention efforts Support staffing, training, and daily store operations Ensure company policies and procedures are followed Team Leadership Train and mentor associates within the department Lead by example through positive attitude and strong work ethic Foster a "Say Yes" culture focused on customer satisfaction Support store-wide initiatives and teamwork across departments QualificationsRequired Previous retail, paint, hardware, home improvement, or related experience Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to lead and motivate others Basic computer and POS system proficiency Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Preferred Paint department experience Hardware or home improvement retail experience Keyholder, supervisor, or management experience Product knowledge of paint, stains, coatings, and application techniques What Makes You a Great Fit?
