Job Description

Shop Hand
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Shop Hand is responsible for general and specific building repairs, maintenance, and basic groundskeeping. The Shop Hand is also responsible for loading and unloading incoming trucks and deliveries. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports to the Facility Manager.
CLASSIFICATION
NON-EXEMPT (HOURLY)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Replaces and repairs lights and lighting fixtures. • Maintains the warehouse in a neat and orderly fashion. • Empties trash on a daily basis, as required. • Confirms the warehouse is secured at the end of each day. • Operates forklifts in a safe and efficient manner. • Maintains the facility's test tank. • Performs minor maintenance on all shop equipment. • Assists with shipping and receiving operations. • Interacts with all levels of staff. • Complies with established Phoenix quality management system (QMS) processes and procedures. • Performs other additional duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of work experience highly preferred. • A valid driver's license and a good driving record. • A valid forklift qualification with at least two years of experience. • A working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems and power tools. • Ability to use and operate standard tools, equipment, materials, and supplies of the trade. • Willingness to observe all safety rules, regulations, and precautions. • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds. • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and physical and background check, as required.
