We strive to deliver a high-end, education-focused retail experience that serves both new and experienced consumers. We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused General Manager to join our team in Moorhead, Minnesota. In this role, you will oversee retail operations while also acting as a leader on the sales floor, ensuring a welcoming, compliant, and elevated shopping experience for every customer. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a customer-focused mindset, deep knowledge of cannabis products and regulations, and a passion for cannabis education and hospitality.
Position Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations on the sales floor of The Herbal Care
THC, LLC.
This role ensures that the customer experience is exceptional, that the store operates efficiently, and that all retail staff comply with cannabis laws and company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a customer-focused mindset, and deep knowledge of cannabis products and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management Oversee daily operations of the dispensary, cultivation, or manufacturing facility Ensure all processes follow state and local cannabis regulations Maintain proper inventory control and seed-to-sale tracking systems Develop and implement operational policies and procedures Monitor store performance, workflow efficiency, and product availability Staff Management Recruit, hire, train, and supervise employees Schedule staff and manage payroll hours Provide coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions when needed Foster a positive, compliant, and professional work culture Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure compliance with state cannabis regulations and licensing requirements Maintain accurate records for inspections and audits Train employees on compliance policies and procedures Work with regulatory agencies during inspections Sales & Customer Experience Drive sales growth through promotions, product education, and marketing strategies Maintain exceptional customer service standards Monitor sales metrics, KPIs, and profitability Resolve customer complaints or issues Inventory & Product Management Oversee ordering, receiving, and inventory audits Ensure proper storage and handling of cannabis products Track product movement through state tracking systems (e.g., METRC or BioTrack) Financial Management Manage budgets, expenses, and revenue targets Analyze financial reports and operational metrics Implement cost-control strategies to maximize profitabilit
Customer Experience:
Ensure that customers receive outstanding service by maintaining a welcoming and knowledgeable environment. Train staff to provide accurate product recommendations and educate customers on safe cannabis consumption.
Regulatory Compliance:
Uphold New York State and City cannabis laws, including ID verification, purchase limits, and age restrictions. Monitor staff compliance and address any issues immediately.
Staff Leadership:
Manage scheduling, supervise daily operations, and oversee retail staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and facilitate team meetings.
Sales Management:
Monitor daily sales metrics, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop strategies to achieve revenue goals.
Store Maintenance:
Ensure the sales floor, displays, and customer areas are clean, organized, and compliant with company standards.
Conflict Resolution:
Address escalated customer concerns with professionalism and tact.
Cash Handling:
Oversee cash handling procedures, ensuring accurate reporting and adherence to company policies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of retail management experience, preferably in the cannabis or regulated retail industry. Strong understanding of cannabis laws and regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Capability to lift up to 30 pounds.
