Job Description

Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising and assisting in the operations of pump stations. This position is assigned to pay grade G15. Develops plans and programming, assigns job duties, conducts employee evaluations, prepares contractual obligations, and reports parameters as they relate to the overall programming of the office. Maintains and repairs lift stations, including electrical and mechanical systems. Utilizes CFPUA's computerized Operations & Maintenance Management system to organize projects and work orders. Monitors all facilities to make sure all things are in a safe working manor at main office and in the field. Keeps records of all work performed using Maximo. Maintains electrical and mechanical systems at lift stations and package treatment plant. Monitors and troubleshoots the computerized telemetry system, sewage pumps, electrical controls, motor starters, and control breakers. Performs preventive maintenance on generators. Maintains hand tools and equipment and assists in cleaning baskets with crane truck. Reviews engineering plans for new and remodeled lift stations and related pipe work. Meets with contractors in the field and at preconstruction review meetings. Enforces authority policies and regulations. Responds to emergency or disaster situations. Accountable for inventory/property management. This position is a member of the organization management team and is responsible for demonstrating and holding others accountable to the CFPUA values. This position is required to work in partnership with their own department and all other CFPUA departments toward achieving organizational goals. This position is responsible for creating a culture of belonging and inclusion. This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure staff completes all relevant employment training. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all CFPUA policies and procedures. This position works in partnership with the Human Resources department to ensure compliance with federal and state employment law. Manages the budget within assigned department. Exercises a purchasing authority up to $1,000 without approval from supervisor. Performs other related job duties as assigned. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. High school diploma or GED. Three (3) years of maintenance, mechanic, or pump station experience including supervisory experience. Requires NC Grade 1 collections System Operator certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. NC Grade 2 Collections System Operator is preferred. Requires a valid State of North Carolina driver's license or ability to readily obtain upon hire. Requires NC Class B CDL within 12 months of hire. This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.
