$85,000 - $130,000 Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Body Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our fast-paced, dealership-affiliated Collision Center. The ideal candidate will possess a strong balance of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen to drive profitability while maintaining the highest standards of repair quality and customer satisfaction. As a dealership body shop, you will be responsible for managing relationships with major insurance DRPs (Direct Repair Programs), ensuring compliance with New York State repair regulations, and fostering a productive, safety-first shop culture. Key Responsibilities 1. Operations & Shop Efficiency Oversee the entire vehicle repair workflow from initial estimate to final quality control inspection. Schedule and assign work to technicians based on skill levels to maximize efficiency and minimize cycle time. Ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications and federal/state safety standards. Manage parts inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships to minimize delays. 2. Financial Performance & Estimating Review and approve repair estimates, supplements, and insurance closely to maximize gross profit. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including labor efficiency, cycle times, paint/material tracking, and net profit. Manage a profitable shop budget and justify variances to executive leadership. 3. Team Leadership & Safety Recruit, train, motivate, and retain a high-performing team of estimators, body technicians, painters, and detailers. Enforce a safe working environment in strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and New York State DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation) regulations. Maintain accurate records of technician certifications (I-CAR, ASE, OEM). 4. Customer & Insurance Relations Maintain strong, positive relationships with insurance adjusters and Direct Repair Program (DRP) representatives. Address and resolve customer inquiries or complaints with empathy and professionalism to maintain high CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) scores.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Body Shop Manager or Assistant Manager, preferably within a dealership environment.
Certifications:
I-CAR Gold Class tracking or Platinum recognition highly preferred; ASE certifications are a plus.
Technical Savvy:
Proficiency with collision estimating software (e.g., CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Audatex) and Dealership Management Systems (DMS) like Reynolds & Reynolds or CDK.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Deep understanding of NYS Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) repair shop regulations and consumer rights laws.
License:
Must hold a valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Compensation & Benefits Expected Salary Range:
$85,000 - $130,000 / year (Base salary + performance-based bonuses/commission).
