Job Description

Job Summary The Early Childhood Education Site Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of an early childhood education center, ensuring high-quality educational programming, regulatory compliance, and a safe, developmentally appropriate learning environment for all children. This role provides supervision, support, and appropriate interventions for the preschool staff, children and their families in the context of a preschool setting.
Responsibilities:
Leadership In conjunction with the director, leads the planning, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate early childhood education aligning with all regulatory standards and the organization's educational philosophy. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates early education staff. Participates directly in the performance appraisal process. Mentors and counsels staff as appropriate to foster a professional and supportive culture focused on continuous improvement and staff development. Serves as a leader on teams, projects, or committees as directed. Initiates at least 2 outreach activities per year. Outreach activities may include educational program to internal or external customers, cultivating of referral sources, development of new programs, etc. Participates in data gathering/analysis of impact on referral, etc. Serves as the liaison for the day-to-day operations including troubleshooting issues; scheduling staff to ensure adequate child to staff ratios; resolving parental/family concerns in a timely and professional manner; ensuring accurate and timely record keeping and retention; etc. Escalates any issues appropriately. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining the Office of Children and Family Service (OCFS) licensure. Ensures site complies with local, New York State and federal regulations including licensing, health and safety standards as set by the Office of Child and Family Services and the New York State Education Department. Assists in the management of supplies and expenses; provides input on staff enrollment; and provides input into the budget process. Provision of Service Formulates child specific long- and short-term goals consistent with Individualized Education Plan (IEP) format within a trans-disciplinary context. Implements child specific long- and short-term goals consistent with IEP format within trans-disciplinary context. Provides support for program staff to formulate and implement child specific long- and short-term goals consistent with IEP format within a trans-disciplinary context. Demonstrates the ability to use data management applications and all other IEP programs and goals. Utilizes strategies effectively based on IEP goals including: Use of multimodal strategies; Modification of methods and interventions related to the physical environment and daily routines and adult-child and child-child interactions; selection and use of appropriate materials. Consistently selects, utilizes, and accurately interprets appropriate testing materials and/or instrumentation based on presenting needs, and actively participates in student evaluations as required. Communication Demonstrates strong communication skills and the ability to use a variety of strategies to communicate appropriate information to staff, parents/families, referrals sources. Attends, schedules and conducts classroom or treatment team meeting times with staff. Schedules regular meeting times with families at least twice a year according to school program protocol. Actively and consistently uses cooperative planning as a strategy for staff-to-staff communication including but not limited to participation on: (Classroom team, Site team, Core team, Best Practice team, Diagnostic team) Consistently exchanges information with parents/families including observations, scheduled conferences, etc. and encourages parents to actively participate. Addresses parental concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner. Clearly communicates information at interagency and intra-agency meetings including to other staff/sites, departments, and internal and external customers as directed. Builds partnerships to support enrollment and services. Demonstrates knowledge of the chain of command in a crisis and follows appropriate clinical and program response according to preschool protocols. Documentation Completes documentation within established time frames including but not limited to diagnostic reports, progress notes, lesson plans, and annual reports according to program requirements and mandates. Special Assignments Completes a minimum of two special assignments (i.e. coordinates a site/facility for children families; coordinates safety program policy procedure; coordinates infection control implementations; coordinates staff conflict resolution; coordinates audits; actively Organizes One Site Specialty In-service; Program or Site -Based Assignment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years of experience in related field.
EDUCATION
Masters Degree in Special Education (preferred) or Bachelors degree in Early Education or related field or Received an education, including completion of a Master's degree or higher in physical/occupational/speech therapy or determined to be equivalent, in accordance with the NYS commissioner's regulations
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NYS
License in Special Education or NYS license in Physical Therapy or NYS license in Occupational Therapy or NYS license in Speech Language pathology and NYSED teacher of students with speech language disabilities certification (TSSLD).
