SUMMARY OF JOB

Knowledgable about indoor and outdoor plants Familiar with fertilizers and plant chemicals Home gardening experience desired Master Gardener training desired Oversee aspects of the Lawn and Garden department performance including but not limited to customer service, merchandise presentation, inventory control and cleanliness. Manage back stock levels by maximizing product displayed on the sales floor. Work with department assistants to ensure dissemination of store information and product training. Demonstrate innovation and willingness for the department to succeed. Must project a professional image and provide professional service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Task 1: 50% Acknowledge every customer immediately, make eye contact and smile. Walk customers to the products they are looking for and engage in their project. Special order items when possible. Ensure that customers have a quick checkout. Task 2: 35% Keep the shelf well stocked. Walk the department and the beginning of each shift. Rotate packages. Ensure items are correctly tagged and have proper location code. Communicate potential theft or on hand discrepancies immediately. Task 3: 10% Ensure that cleanliness and facing standards are met each and every day. Manage back stock areas to ensure that all merchandise is organized and stocked the best it can be. Dust products and base decks. Task 4: 5% Special assignments assigned by management.

SECONDARY JOB TASKS

Help in identifying slow moving items, making recommendations for new product lines, working to ensure that merchandise pricing is competitive. Cross train and help in other departments as needed. Complete other duties as assigned.
