Position Purpose This person is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Rolling Hills Community Church coffee shop to ensure efficient processes, effective menu planning, and excellent customer service in a welcoming environment aligned with the church's mission and values. This role is responsible for scheduling and providing leadership to volunteers, managing inventory and maintaining operational standards. The Coffee Shop Manager will also identify growth opportunities to expand community engagement, and enhance the overall impact of the cafe. This person is also responsible for general oversight of a shared-use church kitchen. Food preparation is not a part of this role; however, this person will be responsible for equipment & supplies organization, establishing efficient systems, ordering and managing inventory, maintaining cleanliness, training of staff and volunteers, and occasional support for ministry events. Essential Roles & Responsibilities Coffee Shop Management (15 hours) Oversee all aspects of operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, inventory management, and ordering supplies Lead coffee shop operations on Sunday mornings Recruit, train, and develop a cohesive team of volunteer Team Leads, Baristas, and Cashiers Schedule and communicate shifts to ensure adequate coverage during Sunday morning hours, mid-week hours, and special events Manage and monitor the point of sale system Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling standards, and sanitation guidelines Monitor sales performance, identify trends, and evaluate/adjust menu as needed Track expenses and revenue Control costs by optimizing inventory levels, minimizing waste, and implementing efficient operational practices Provide coffee for various church functions and meetings Create new pathways for engagement of church attendees and the outside community, including but not limited to special events and creative merchandising opportunities that align with the mission of the church Kitchen Oversight (10 hours) Establish and maintain efficient operating standards for safe, organized, and effective use of the church's shared kitchen space Provide training to staff and ministry teams to ensure shared access is coordinated, respectful, and aligned with established standards Monitor inventory; order and receive supplies Manage linen contract with outside agency Establish high standards of cleanliness; recruit and train volunteers for consistent general cleanings Maintain proper labeling and storage of supplies and equipment Coordinate bulk ordering for ministries, as well as possible food/beverage support for events Knowledge/Skills/Experience Previous experience in a coffee shop management role or similar food and beverage leadership position is preferred. Strong passion for coffee and the community that a coffee shop can create Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team Proven track record in delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive guest experience Solid understanding of coffee shop operations, including inventory management, ordering, and financial controls Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines Strong problem-solving abilities and the aptitude to make sound decisions under pressure Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems Physical/Mental Abilities Self Motivated Excellent written and verbal communication skills Practices self-awareness and operates with integrity Willing to accept feedback and demonstrate willingness and capacity to grow Ability to multi-task working with multiple projects, ministry teams and people at one time Ability to function effectively in ambiguous environment Ability to maintain productivity under significant pressure of daily and diverse deadlines Excellent reasoning, analytical & decision-making skills Effective presentation and facilitation skills Ability to analyze historical data and project future actions or outcomes Able to travel within region to perform job duties Ability to stand for up to 3 hours, sit for up to 8 hours, and use computer for up to 8 hours Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
