position open for Paint Department Manager. Cole's Hardware is a locally owned and operated chain of Hardware stores in central PA, and we have been serving the needs of our customers since 1883. Paint Department Manager The Paint Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the paint department, including customer service, sales, merchandising, inventory management, employee development, and commercial customer relationships. This role serves as the department expert, helping customers select the right products for their projects while ensuring the department remains clean, organized, well-stocked, and profitable.
Key responsibilities include:
Deliver exceptional customer service and project advice. Mix and match paint colors accurately using computerized tinting systems. Maintain department merchandising, displays, and promotional programs. Manage inventory levels, ordering, and in-stock conditions. Train and develop paint department employees. Develop and foster relationships with commercial painting contractors, property managers, maintenance professionals, and other business customers. Proactively identify opportunities to grow commercial paint sales and strengthen customer loyalty. Ensure a safe, clean, and professional shopping environment. Support store operations and collaborate with other department managers. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, organized, self-motivated, and passionate about helping customers complete their projects successfully. Strong relationship-building skills are essential, as the role includes supporting and growing both retail and commercial paint business. Previous paint, retail, home improvement, or management experience is preferred but not required. Evening and weekend hours required.
