Full-Time Overview We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Produce Associate/Manager to lead our produce department. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of retail management, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing inventory, supervising staff, and ensuring the department meets sales, freshness, and quality standards. The Produce Manager will play a key role in maintaining a well-organized, profitable, and customer-focused environment within our retail store. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the produce department team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff to ensure high performance and excellent customer service. Manage inventory control, purchasing, and stock replenishment to maintain optimal product availability while minimizing shrink and waste. Oversee pricing strategies, merchandising, and store presentation to maximize sales and enhance the shopping experience. Implement effective sales management techniques to meet or exceed sales targets. Handle employee orientation, training & development programs, and scheduling shifts to ensure smooth daily operations. Conduct regular inventory audits and bookkeeping to maintain accurate records of stock levels and financial transactions. Utilize POS systems for sales processing, cash handling, and reporting purposes with accuracy and efficiency. Coordinate marketing initiatives to promote produce items and attract new customers. Ensure compliance with safety standards, health regulations, and company policies across all activities in the department. Foster a positive team environment through leadership, communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Qualifications Proven management experience in retail or grocery store environments, preferably within produce or perishable departments. Strong knowledge of inventory management, purchasing, pricing strategies, shrink control, and retail math. Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases. Demonstrated experience in employee recruitment, interviewing, training & development, and team management. Proficiency with POS systems, cash handling procedures, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and basic administrative tasks. Ability to lead with strong organizational skills while managing multiple priorities effectively. Experience in merchandising, stocking, marketing initiatives, and retail sales is highly desirable. Leadership qualities with a focus on customer service excellence and staff development. Knowledge of fruits and vegetables is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
