Job Description

Position Summary The Press Department Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and daily operation of the press department. This position oversees personnel, production schedules, quality standards, equipment utilization, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong technical printing knowledge, proven supervisory experience, and the ability to balance production objectives with employee development, quality standards, and operational excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop press department employees to achieve company goals related to safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction
  • Prioritize, schedule, and coordinate departmental workflow to meet production requirements and customer deadlines
  • Partner with prepress, bindery, customer service, and production leadership teams to ensure efficient job flow throughout the facility
  • Monitor department performance and implement improvements related to productivity, quality, waste reduction, and equipment utilization
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance activities and support equipment reliability initiatives
  • Serve as the technical resource for press operations, troubleshooting, and process improvement efforts
  • Conduct employee training and development activities to support operational consistency and workforce growth
  • Review and approve employee timecards and support payroll-related processes
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, performance management, and workforce planning activities
  • Participate in budgeting, cost control, and departmental planning initiatives
  • Maintain accurate departmental records, reports, and production documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, environmental, and company policies
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives and operational projects Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of printing processes, equipment, and production workflows
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze production data and make operational decisions
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory or management experience within a printing, publishing, packaging, or related manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing production schedules, staffing, and departmental performance metrics
  • Experience with payroll review, timekeeping systems, and workforce management
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologies

Pay:
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
