CMT Department Manager•Dallas, TX We are partnered with a growing engineering consultancy in the Dallas Fort Worth market that is looking to appoint an experienced CMT Department Manager to lead and scale a high-performing team across North Texas. This is a key leadership role for someone who understands the pace and complexity of commercial construction testing and is ready to take ownership of operations, people, and growth within a well established but evolving business unit. The Opportunity This position offers the chance to lead an established CMT division focused primarily on commercial, industrial, and retail projects, with some exposure to municipal work. Unlike heavily transportation-focused environments, this group operates across a diverse portfolio with consistent repeat work and strong client relationships. You will have full responsibility for team performance, financial delivery, and client development, with the autonomy to shape the department and take it to the next level. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a CMT department of 20+ staff, including field technicians, project managers, and support personnel Oversee department operations with responsibility for a $5M+ revenue portfolio Drive project delivery quality, safety, and client satisfaction across all engagements Develop and maintain client relationships, with a focus on repeat business and strategic growth Mentor and develop staff, building a strong internal culture and future leadership pipeline Manage utilisation, forecasting, and departmental P&L Address operational challenges proactively in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in Construction Materials Testing (ideally 7-10+ years) Proven experience managing teams, or someone ready to step into a full department leadership role Strong technical understanding of CMT services in commercial and industrial markets Experience working within similar environments (e.g. Terracon, ECS, PSI, or similar firms) Texas Professional Engineer (PE) licence preferred Established client relationships or the ability to bring a network is highly desirable The Ideal Profile We are looking for someone who is not only technically sound but also: Comfortable leading from the front and addressing challenges head-on Thrives in a fast moving, high change environment Strong communicator with excellent people leadership skills Entrepreneurial mindset, someone who recognises they can do more and wants the platform to prove it Collaborative, adaptable, and committed to building a strong team culture Why This Role?
