We help people gain greater self-sufficiency while improving their lives. A private, nonprofit, charitable organization, Westbay Community Action was founded in 1966. For nearly 60 years, Westbay has created opportunities to help meet the growing needs of the communities we serve. In doing so, we remain flexible and able to change as needed. This position is a seasonal 9- month position from March-November and is 40 hour per week. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall operation of the Westbay Farm, including site planning, planting, harvesting, food distribution, farm stands, and coordination of farm volunteers. The role supports Westbay's food access mission through food production for the Marketplace and other food access programs, including supporting pantry operations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in farming or food production. Retail, food distribution, or farmers market experience preferred Experience coordinating volunteers preferred Pass a BCI clearance Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required Must maintain appropriate auto insurance coverageCORE COMPETENCIES

Develop and maintain an annual farm site plan, crop plan Prepare land for planting and oversee opening and closing of the farm Coordinate planting, cultivating, pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling Purchase, source, or solicit donated seeds, plants, tools, and equipment Coordinate delivery and application of soil amendments Support coordination of irrigation, fencing, and other site improvements Coordinate day-of activities and provide guidance to volunteers supporting farm operations Serve as a point of contact for volunteers during farm activities and farm stands Work collaboratively with Westbay staff responsible for volunteer recruitment and onboarding Promote a safe, welcoming, and productive volunteer environment Coordinate distribution of farm-grown food to the Marketplace pantry, farm stands, and other food access partners Coordinate and perform retail operations at farm stands Transport produce to pantry sites and farm stands as needed Collaborate with Marketplace and other food access staff to ensure smooth distribution Planning and preparation for upcoming growing seasons, including ordering, scheduling, and coordination Maintain accurate records related to crop yields, food distribution, sales, and volunteer hours Prepare required reports and documentation Assist with outreach, marketing, and resource development related to farm and food access programs Build and maintain relationships with landowners and collaborate with state, federal, and local partners as needed.
