Job Description

Purpose The Produce Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Produce Department to achieve sales, margin, quality, and customer service goals. This role ensures fresh, high‑quality product, attractive merchandising, effective inventory control, and a well‑trained, engaged team while maintaining food safety and operational standards. Key Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the Produce Department, including ordering, replenishment, and merchandising Drive sales, gross margin, and shrink control through effective planning and execution Ensure high standards of freshness, rotation, quality, and presentation Lead, train, schedule, and develop department associates Maintain food safety, sanitation, and safety compliance at all times Execute promotional plans, seasonal programs, and pricing accuracy Monitor inventory levels and reduce waste through proper handling and markdowns Deliver excellent customer service and resolve concerns promptly Partner with store leadership to support overall store performance Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling and merchandising standards Effective leadership and team‑development skills Ability to analyze sales, margin, and shrink results Strong organizational and time‑management abilities Excellent communication and customer‑service skills Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Prior produce or grocery department management experience required Understanding of food safety and perishable inventory practices Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays Working Conditions Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Exposure to refrigerated cases and back‑room operations Fast‑paced retail grocery environment
