This role helps ensure high-quality baked goods, attractive displays, and a clean, food-safe environment while delivering excellent customer service and driving department sales. Key Responsibilities Department Operations Assist in managing the daily operations of the bakery department Ensure product is prepared, packaged, and stocked according to company standards Maintain full, fresh, and visually appealing displays throughout the day Support ordering, inventory levels, and production planning Team Leadership & Development Help supervise, train, and coach bakery associates Assign tasks and ensure efficient workflow during shifts Reinforce productivity, quality, and customer service expectations Support a positive, collaborative team environment Production & Quality Control Oversee preparation and baking of products to ensure consistency and quality Monitor freshness standards, including proper rotation and date coding Ensure all items meet presentation and food safety guidelines Remove and dispose of outdated or substandard product promptly Merchandising & Sales Execution Execute promotional programs, seasonal items, and display plans Ensure accurate pricing, labeling, and signage throughout the department Identify opportunities to drive sales through product placement and sampling Maintain awareness of sales trends and adjust production and displays accordingly Inventory & Shrink Control Assist in managing inventory levels to reduce out-of-stocks and excess shrink Support receiving deliveries and proper storage of ingredients and finished goods Maintain organized backroom and production areas Minimize waste through effective ordering and prep planning Safety & Sanitation Ensure strict compliance with food safety and sanitation standards Maintain cleanliness of all prep areas, equipment, and sales floor displays Follow proper handling procedures for all bakery items and ingredients Enforce safety practices, including equipment operation and hazard prevention Qualifications Previous bakery, food service, or retail experience preferred Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred Knowledge of baking processes, food safety, and product handling Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Key Competencies Leadership and team support Attention to quality and detail Time management and execution Customer focus Accountability and consistency Working Conditions Fast-paced retail environment with frequent physical activity Exposure to hot ovens, bakery equipment, and temperature changes Standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks throughout shift Albertsons Companies is at the forefront of the revolution in retail.
