JOB TITLE
: Shop Supervisor
REPORTS TO
: District Manager
JOB SUMMARY
: Oversees the recertification process of high-pressure iron equipment and components. This role involves supervising a team responsible for ensuring that all high-pressure iron items, including flow iron, piping, valves, and pressure vessels, meet safety standards and comply with industry regulations. Responsibilities are but not limited to:
Supervise Recertification Processes:
Lead a team of recertification specialists to ensure the proper testing, inspection, and documentation of high-pressure iron components.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance:
Maintainadherence to industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, OSHA, or local regulatory bodies) throughout the recertification process.
Review and Approve Documentation:
Evaluate and approve recertification records, including inspection reports, testing records, and certification renewal applications.
Develop and Maintain SOPs:
Create and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inspection and recertification processes to ensure consistency and compliance. Coordinate with
Cross-Functional Teams:
Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and operations teams to ensure all high-pressure iron equipment meets safety and performance standards.
Manage Scheduling:
Oversee recertification inspections and testing timelines, ensuring all equipment is certified within required deadlines.
Conduct or Oversee Inspections:
Perform in-house testing and inspections of high-pressure iron components to verify functionality and compliance with industry requirements.
Resolve Discrepancies:
Investigate and correct any issues arising during the recertification process, minimizing operational disruptions.
Maintain Comprehensive Records:
Ensure all records related to the recertification process are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory and company standards.
Train and Mentor Staff:
Provide training on recertification processes, industry standards, and safety best practices for high-pressure equipment.
Improve Processes:
Identifyand implement enhancements to recertification procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.
Enforce Safety Standards:
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, minimizing risks associated with high-pressure equipment handling and testing.
Manage Calibrated Tools:
Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and proper usage of all inspection and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Education and Experience:
Highschool diploma or GEDrequired. 5+ years of experience in recertification or quality assurance of high-pressure equipment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong understanding of high-pressure iron equipment, including valves, piping, pressure vessels, and associated safety standards. Thorough knowledge of industry regulations such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API standards, and OSHA safety requirements. Proven leadership experience managing recertification processes within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure. Proficiencyin inspection tools, testing equipment, and software related to recertification (e.g., inspection tracking systems, databases). Familiarity with risk management and safety protocols for high-pressure equipment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Certification in pressure vessel or piping inspection (e.g., API 510, ASME, or equivalent). Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar tracking systems. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities related to high-pressure equipment recertification.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and work at a computer station for extended periods of time. Ability to walk aroundshopsand office facilities during inspections and recertification processes.
