This position is responsible for supervising store staff and volunteers, managing inventory flow, supporting merchandising efforts, maintaining financial accountability, and ensuring an organized and welcoming shopping environment. The Store Manager plays a key role in supporting the mission of Arlington Urban Ministries by helping generate revenue that directly funds programs serving individuals and families experiencing financial hardship in the Arlington community. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, customer service skills, and a commitment to compassionate, mission-driven operations. Store Operations & Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Nu2U Resale Shop
  • Supervise and support a staff of 5, including scheduling and daily oversight
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment & address any maintenance issues with Program Director and Executive Director
  • Help resolve customer and staff concerns professionally and efficiently
  • Ensure store operations reflect the mission and values of Arlington Urban Ministries
  • Attend business meetings and represent the store at community events as needed Inventory & Merchandising
  • Coordinate with merchandising staff on holiday displays and sales floor setup
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee product rotation processes
  • Identify aging or overstock inventory and coordinate markdowns or small sales events
  • Ensure timely movement of inventory from the warehouse to the sales floor
  • Coordinate donation transfers to Mission Arlington when needed
  • Support creative merchandising strategies that maximize sales and customer engagement Financial & Administrative Oversight
  • Count registers and oversee daily and weekly bank deposits
  • Use provided templates to create and update store sale flyers and promotional materials
  • Monitor operational expenses and practice strong budget stewardship
  • Identify problems early and flag financial or inventory concerns before they become bigger issues
  • Support accurate tracking of store performance and sales activity Community & Mission Engagement
  • Operate with a nonprofit mindset focused on stewardship and community impact
  • Help strengthen community awareness and support for Nu2U Resale
  • Maintain a service-oriented atmosphere for customers, donors, volunteers, and staff
  • Support Arlington Urban Ministries' efforts to serve individuals and families in crisis through sustainable retail operations Qualifications
  • 2+ years of retail supervision or management experience required
  • Retail sales and customer service experience required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with diverse populations and volunteers preferred
  • Nonprofit experience strongly preferred but not required
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing inventory and operational needs Work Schedule
  • 35 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling within Monday-Saturday operations
