Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Assistant Supervisor will partner with Supervisor/Manager to ensure all procedures are followed in compliance with Company policies and Federal and State regulations (i.e. USDA, OSHA, etc.) while achieving the highest level of productivity and maintaining customer specifications and satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Utilize knowledge of departmental practices, applicable policies and regulations to ensure department goals and objectives are met on time and within budget Under minimal supervision, assist Supervisor/Manager with the running of the department or line, ensuring all work is compliant with company policies, procedures, food safety guidelines and GMP procedures, etc. Deploy and/ or direct personnel as necessary ensuring proper staffing to complete work prior to shift start by understanding the daily workload or production requirements Partner with the supervisor/manager to learn, understand and perform required timekeeping function requirements; complete and validate in a timely manner Partner with the Supervisor/Manager and HR to learn, understand and perform disciplinary actions including Company requirements and all associated legal responsibilities and ramifications Verify daily reporting is accurate and timely; communicate any variance/anomalies to Supervisor and/or Manager Identify and communicate opportunities for process optimization (throughput, waste reduction, product quality, ergonomics, etc.) and/or reduce/eliminate repeat deficiencies (i.e. hold product, accidents, downtime, etc.) Lead or participate in the planning and implementation of process improvements, monitor improvement metrics and respond to unfavorable trends Lead and actively participate in departmental meetings Follow and promote all safety initiatives helping to maintain a zero accident culture Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees encouraging career development; schedule quarterly feedback meetings and provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement Administer performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions in a fair and consistent basis Learn, understand and adhere to current Union negotiated contract requirements if applicable Work corroboratively with other departments/shifts ensuring departmental or location goals are met or exceeded Perform additional duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

CERTIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Business or relevant discipline preferred Combination of applicable experience and education may be substituted for degree Verified completion of the Wayne Farms Leader of People LMS classes
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience; experience within a manufacturing setting preferred Demonstrated leadership skills including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, Top 25 behaviors and conflict resolution including the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively; prior supervisory experience preferred Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner; ability to communicate in multiple languages preferred Strong attention to detail, organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects Proficient computer and math skills Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environment Strong organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
