Job Description

Al's Sporting Goods | Logan, UT We are seeking motivated, experienced, and proactive leaders to join our sales floor as Department Managers. In this role, you will oversee multiple departments, ensuring your teams deliver outstanding customer service, meet sales goals, and maintain the highest standards of department performance. As active, visible leaders, you will spend the majority of your time on the sales floor motivating, coaching, and directing staff. You will foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and product knowledge while ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction are achieved. These positions report directly to the Store Manager. We sell gear for a wide range of outdoor and athletic activities, from seasonal adventures to everyday recreation. We're looking for individuals with a broad range of product knowledge and experience who can confidently lead multiple departments and inspire both staff and customers. Key Responsibilities Lead, train, and motivate department staff to achieve sales, service, and operational goals. Maintain a strong presence on the sales floor and deliver exceptional customer engagement. Manage scheduling, daily direction, and performance feedback. Coach and develop team members through ongoing training and support. Provide expert product knowledge and build strong customer relationships. Oversee merchandising, visual standards, signage, and promotional execution. Support events and promotions with accurate and organized setups. Analyze sales trends and collaborate with management to improve inventory and performance. Perform opening and closing duties as needed. Assist across departments and complete additional tasks as assigned. Maintain organization, cleanliness, and high product knowledge standards. Stay current on industry trends, technology, and merchandise. Qualifications Required Retail management or supervisory experience in outdoor, sporting goods, or specialty retail. Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays, major sale events. Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills with ability to coach and develop teams. Knowledge of outdoor industry trends and products. Strong merchandising, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable engaging customers and providing product expertise. Ability to stay calm under pressure, manage time, and meet deadlines. Detail-oriented, decisive, and team-focused. Ability to lift 25+ lbs. Knowledge of outdoor industry trends and products. This is a Full-Time, 40 hours per week position. Monday to Saturday. Open Availabilty. Flexibility required. Opening and closing shift rotations. From 8 AM - 10 PM. Weekends, Holidays and Major Sale Events are Required.
