Tasks of Position The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company. Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service and leadership. Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information. (Examples may include: ordering products special requests, assisting guests locate any products throughout the store, offering special deals on case orders when requested, and chatting about Yoke's signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information about products). Performing managerial duties including but not limited to the following: inventory, sales, and other bookwork required to monitor financial performance, ensuring the overall operations and profitability of the Hardware Department. Merchandising existing products and new products by using size, shape and color to compliment an area or item to help promote increased sales. Informing guests about quality tools, hardware, and equipment and demonstrating their use. Tools hardware and equipment may include: nails, bolts, screws, hand and power tools, electrical equipment, plumbing supplies, garden tools, and paint. Directing, coordinating, and participating in throwing freight, facing product, hanging tags, merchandising with other departments, pricing, greeting guests, changing ad items, reading UPC's, paying bills, building displays, ordering and setting seasonal items, and taking inventory. Providing in-service training to all new personnel as assigned and ensuring they learn exceptional guest service, special features and services offered by the Hardware Department, and the proper and safe operations (at minimum) of the following equipment: com-line, telephone, baler, trash compactor, box cutter, FM unit, EOS (ordering machine) pallet jack, six wheelers, and any other equipment used in or by the GM Department. Empowering associates to use "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!" Finding a way to make our guests happy. Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, sanitation/housekeeping standards, and guest services. Participating actively in the Hardware Department's accident reduction plan including: monitoring displays for trip hazards or instability, observing safe lifting techniques, and recognizing safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, and robbery policy.
