Job Description

Spirit Fabs is a family-owned and operated fabrication shop located in Wrightstown, WI. Since 1993, Spirit Fabs has provided customers with high-quality structural components, stainless steel and specialty alloy products, and industrial fabrication solutions. We are currently seeking motivated individuals looking for a long-term career, not just another job. Position Summary The Shop Maintenance Manager is responsible for the reliability, uptime, and safety of all fabrication equipment and facility systems. This is a working leadership role that requires active involvement in troubleshooting, repairing, and improving critical shop equipment—not simply managing from an office. The successful candidate will spend a significant amount of time on the shop floor supporting production, responding to equipment issues, and leading maintenance initiatives to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Reliability Oversee maintenance of: CNC controlled Peddinghaus 1250/3 3 Axis Drill Line W/Band Saw CNC controlled Coper/Notcher Burning Machine Conveyor System for Drill Line through Coper/Notcher to Fabrication area CNC controlled Plasma Plate Punch CNC controlled 294 sq. ft Burning Table (w/ 1-Oxy/Fuel Torch, and 1- Plasma Torch) Cincinnati 400H Brake Press Marvel Series 8 Saw American (Large) Auto Feed Drill Press Kling Bros. Eng. Works Mechanical Bumper Hydraulic Camber Machine Piranha Standing Punch Fabrication Stations W/Dual Feeder Equipped Boom Welders fed by no less than Miller 451 Power Supply (9) Fabrication Station W/Single Feeder Equipped Boom Welder fed by Miller Power Supply (1) Portable Lincoln Power Wave 455m W/Dual Feeder (2) Sub Arc Machines Powered by (2) Lincoln DC 655 Stud Shooter W/Power Source
PROCESS AREA 3,900
sq. ft. under (1) Overhead crane CNC controlled 3 Axis Angle Master W/Flat Bar Capabilities Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues. Reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules. Implement predictive maintenance programs where applicable. Maintain maintenance logs, records, and work order systems. Leadership & Team Management Lead and coordinate maintenance technicians and outside vendors. Prioritize maintenance activities based on production needs. Provide hands-on support during equipment breakdowns and critical repairs. Production Support Coordinate closely with fabrication and shop leadership. Respond quickly to equipment failures impacting production. Identify bottlenecks and recommend equipment or process improvements. Vendor & Contractor Management Coordinate specialized repairs with outside service providers. Manage spare parts inventory and critical replacement components. Assist with maintenance budgeting and cost control. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Lead Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and machine guarding programs. Promote the safe operation of heavy industrial equipment. Hands-On Leadership Expectations This position is not a desk-only management role. The Shop Maintenance Manager is expected to: Actively troubleshoot and repair equipment on a daily basis. Spend substantial time on the shop floor supporting production operations. Personally respond to critical equipment failures and downtime events. Work alongside maintenance personnel and contractors when necessary. Balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on maintenance activities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, and productivity. Qualifications 7-15 years of maintenance experience in heavy fabrication, steel manufacturing, or industrial environments. Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities.
Experience with:
PLC troubleshooting (programming experience not required) Industrial power systems, including 480V and motor controls Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Highly proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment.

$68,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
