Job Description

Sales Assistant 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 200 Continental Drive, Newark, DE 19713 Hybrid work Full-time Oppy 14 reviews Full-time About Oppy Bringing fresh global produce home. Celebrating over 165 years in business, we are one of North America's top fresh produce sales and marketing companies. We bring over 100 varieties of produce from more than 20 different countries to the market. Recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies for the past 20 years and a top employer, our business is managed by a team of dedicated professionals delivering exceptional service from over a dozen offices throughout North and South America. And, because a healthy planet is essential to our growers, customers, and all of us at Oppy, sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do.
OPPORTUNITY ALERT!
Are you a highly collaborative and organized team player who thrives on momentum: chasing targets, building relationships and finding a better way to get things done? Do you light up when a tricky order finally clicks into place, a customer says thank you, or a teammate high-five's you for getting something seamlessly across the line? If that sounds like you, Oppy has an exciting opportunity for a Sales Assistant, and we would love to meet you! Join a team that takes the work seriously, looks out for each other, and finds satisfaction in moving fresh produce around the world. The Impact You Will Have In this role, you will be the engine behind a high-performing sales team, analyzing inventory, coordinating orders, and supporting customer requests. Your excellent service and eye for detail will enable smooth, on-time support that keep our growers' fruit moving and our customers coming back. Over time, you will build on your growing knowledge to collaborate with sales team members to grow the sales in the region. What You Will Do Keep the sales engine running by coordinating orders, monitoring inventory, and making sure the right product reaches the right customer at the right time. Be the welcoming voice on the other end of the line, answering sales calls with warmth and professionalism, and turning every interaction into a reason customers want to call us back. Build relationships across your assigned territory: supporting existing accounts, opening doors with new ones, and learning to deliver sales presentations that win business. As your knowledge grows, take ownership of selling Oppy products and services against sales targets, with the coaching and runway to keep stepping up. Spot customer needs before they are asked, from contract program sales to spot trading opportunities, and bring solutions that exceed expectations. Collaborate with teammates to expedite sales commitments, resolve final pricing issues and address other related customer accounting and billing problems in accordance with company policies in a timely manner. Connect the dots with quality control, inventory, transportation, and operations so you always know what's in the warehouse, on the truck, and on the way. Help carry forward the customer-focused, team-oriented culture that defines Oppy, and have a hand in making it even better. Who You Are Schooled. Your degree or diploma in business with a focus in sales or marketing will give you a foundation on which to build your experience. Results-Focused. You have passion and desire to make a difference and tenacity to dig in, figure it out and keep trying until you get results. Experienced. You ideally have 2-3 years experience in administration and sales support, but if you are an entry-level candidate with drive and a real interest in produce, we want to hear from you too. Proactive. Not one to sit and wait, you proactively and systematically work to improve your skills and learn the business. Resourcefulness, tenacity and relentless grit are in your DNA. Incredibly Organized. You can work independently, make appropriate decisions and liaise with numerous parties, leaving them impressed with your follow up and attention to detail. A Team Player. Colleagues know they can count on you. You build bridges across departments, growers, and customers, and you make the people around you better. Composed. You remain positive and poised in all situations, not much rattles you. Multi-tasking comes naturally and you find keeping busy invigorating. Flexible. You are willing to do what it takes to get the job done; occasional weekend or evening work does not faze you. Why Work for Oppy? We are an established leader in fresh produce that hasn't lost the appetite to innovate, improve, and challenge the norm. Your ideas will be heard and your impact will be felt. Our culture is the real deal: smart, caring people who genuinely look out for each other and want to see you grow. Following an initial 6-month training period in person, we offer a hybrid work model with a mix of in-office and at-home days. You will receive a competitive total compensation package, including 401k match and a range of benefits options to suit your needs.
