Attention to detail Requirements analysis Cost estimate preparation Business requirements Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description Position Summary The Aerospace Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for aerospace components and assemblies. This role requires a strong engineering foundation and the ability to thoroughly interpret technical data, including complex aerospace drawings, bills of materials, and engineering notes. The ideal candidate is detail-driven, technically proficient, and experienced in evaluating CATIA models to support precise cost analysis and manufacturing planning. Key Responsibilities Review and interpret aerospace engineering drawings, specifications, parts lists (BOMs), and notes to define scope and requirements Develop detailed cost estimates including raw materials, hardware, labor, machining, special processing, and outside services Analyze CATIA models to support material takeoffs, geometry assessments, and manufacturability evaluations Identify and evaluate appropriate aerospace materials and hardware (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, composites, fasteners, etc.) Assess manufacturing methods including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, forming, and assembly processes Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to validate assumptions and improve estimate accuracy Evaluate tooling, fixturing, and production sequencing requirements Ensure estimates comply with customer specifications, aerospace standards, and quality requirements Maintain historical cost data and estimating tools for continuous improvement Support RFQs with timely, accurate, and well-documented submissions Qualifications Minimum 4 - 7+ years of experience in aerospace estimating, manufacturing, or engineering-related role Engineering experience required (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering preferred) Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting aerospace drawings, including parts lists and notes Working knowledge of CATIA models (viewing, measuring, and interpretation) Familiarity with aerospace materials and standard hardware Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and cost drivers Knowledge of GD&T and ability to assess manufacturability is preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software/tools Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and organizational ability Preferred Skills Experience estimating tight-tolerance or complex aerospace components Familiarity with special processes (heat treat, coatings, NDT, etc.) Knowledge of aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100) Ability to manage multiple RFQs in a deadline-driven environment Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
