About the Role As a Sales Project Engineer - Wood Processing, you'll play a critical role in shaping these solutions, combining engineering expertise, customer engagement, and commercial insight to develop competitive, high?impact proposals for woodyard and biomass handling systems. This is a technical, customer?facing role with real ownership. You'll work closely with customers and internal teams to turn operational challenges into engineered solutions that improve performance, reliability, and long?term value. Responsibilities Own the technical and commercial development of wood processing proposals during the pre?sales phase Act as the primary technical partner for customers, translating operational needs into practical, engineered solutions Lead or coordinate equipment sizing, layout reviews, and system configuration for woodyard systems, including: Log cranes Debarking and chipping lines Screening systems Stackers, reclaimers, and material?handling equipment Develop accurate, competitive quotations, coordinating pricing and scope across multiple product lines Collaborate closely with internal engineering, sales, service, and product management teams Support business development through customer visits, mill assessments, and technical presentations Participate in occasional marketing and proposal?support initiatives Travel across North America for customer engagement (~10-30%), with occasional international travel for training and collaboration What Success Looks Like Customers trust you as a knowledgeable, responsive technical partner Proposals are technically sound, competitively positioned, and delivered on time Internal teams rely on you to coordinate complex, multi?product proposals You build strong working relationships across sales, engineering, and product groups Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Forestry Engineering, or a related technical field Equivalent hands?on industry experience will also be considered Required Skills 2-5+ years in operations, maintenance, service engineering, project engineering, or technical support Hands?on exposure to woodyard operations, pulp mills, material handling systems, or heavy industrial equipment Experience with capital equipment projects or proposal development is a strong plus Prior sales experience is not required-a customer?oriented mindset and willingness to learn the commercial side is Preferred Skills Enjoys customer interaction and solving real?world industrial problems Organized, detail?oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities Comfortable working across disciplines and communicating technical concepts clearly Self?driven, curious, and adaptable in a project?based environment Apply if you want to: Work on complex, high?impact projects that shape how pulp & paper mills operate.
