Job Description

Polytech Defense Spares , a member company of The PDI Group, is an integrator, distributor and manufacturer producer of fasteners, small gun parts, gears, light assemblies and other hard-to-find component spare parts in support of the US Department of Defense (DoD) and international militaries. We are looking for a Sales Engineer to join our fast-paced sales team. The primary responsibility of this position will be the development of price quotes based on accompanying build-to-print engineering drawings in response to Government and commercial solicitations. The Sales Engineer will also play a crucial role in the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and will be responsible for driving revenue growth by providing technical expertise, solutions-oriented support, and effective communication to our customers in the defense sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Review customer technical data associated with machined parts, distribution items and mechanical assemblies and prepare and submit quotes to customers. Act as a primary technical resource for customers, providing pre-sales and post-sales support. Assist in the implementation of an ERP system through the development of bills of materials, entering sources of supply, issuing quotes, processing sales orders and tracking costs. Perform contract reviews and assist in correcting any issues (Technical Data Packages, engineering exceptions, and submission of PARs). Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within customer and supplier organizations. Stay current with industry trends, competitive offerings, and market conditions. Coordinate with internal manufacturing team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products and services. Source Suppliers and solicit competitive bids (RFQs) for material and services. Issue, track and manage Purchase Order (POs) in accordance with procurement policies.
Required Qualifications:
Technical understanding of mechanical manufacturing. Ability to read mechanical drawings, breakdown components and operations for estimation, and price the finished item. Ability to interact with customers and provide sales support. Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and a functioning ERP system. Ability to document and record all work in an organized fashion. Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in the Defense Contracting Industry. Familiarity with Government Mil-Specs, and industry standards (ASTM, NAS, etc.). Familiarity with CMMC protocols a plus.
