Territory:
Extended Metro Detroit /
Southeastern Michigan Area Compensation:
$750
- 850/Week Base Service Fee + 5-10% of Project Gross Profit Commission + Closed-Deal Milestone Payments The Opportunity Labor shortages, rising janitorial and service worker costs, and rapid advances in autonomous robotics are creating one of the fastest-growing commercial automation opportunities in decades.
RobotLAB Detroit (the Company) is seeking a dedicated Robotics Sales Engineer to lead the automation revolution in the metro Detroit / Southeastern MI market. As a franchise of RobotLAB Corp, we provide world-class robotic solutions to businesses across multiple commercial segments. The Company is already actively building awareness and demand within the Southeastern Michigan market through franchise branding, demonstrations, digital marketing, and strategic outreach. This is an opportunity to work directly with some of the most advanced commercial autonomous robotics technologies entering the U.S. service economy. You will help establish one of the Midwest's emerging commercial robotics territories from the ground floor. RobotLAB Detroit is NOT looking for a "side-hustle" salesperson. We are looking for a focused territory professional to build momentum in a booming local industry. The market size is large
- you will engage with decision-makers across auto dealerships, schools, assisted living facilities, healthcare, warehouses, hospitality, commercial real estate, athletic clubs, large sports and entertainment venues, grocery chains and retail stores, and even airports.
If you love the physical technology, the robotics solution mapping, and the excitement of a live on-site demonstration, but do not want to bother with contract negotiations and closing, this role is perfect for you. By handling everything from initial outreach up to a successful Proof of Concept (POC) demo, you will focus entirely on prospecting, demonstrations, and building qualified pipeline momentum, while the Company leadership steps in to prepare, submit and negotiate pricing, and close the deal. What You Will Do Your primary objective is building and developing a strong pipeline of qualified automation opportunities and conducting technical validation. This role is primarily focused on outbound territory development and relationship building, supported by the Company branding, marketing materials, and demonstration assets. You will navigate the partial sales cycle up to the point of completing demonstrations, allowing you to focus your energy on prospecting, conducting technical validations, and solution design while the Company leadership supports pricing, contracting, and deployment execution. The Company will provide comprehensive product, demonstration, and workflow training during the first 30 days to set you up for success. If necessary, this may include one week of training at RobotLAB's corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX for which travel cost will be covered by the Company.
Your responsibilities will include:
Consultative Prospecting:
Identify and engage with Business Owners, Operations Directors, and Facility Managers to solve their labor shortages through automation.
Site Discovery Surveys:
Evaluate physical facility layouts to determine the "Optimized Practical" productivity of cleaning and delivery robots.
Lead Qualification & Demo Scheduling:
Qualify prospects against budget, authority, need/fit, and timeline criteria, and schedule live demonstrations for qualified clients.
Solution Engineering:
Design and present integrated operational workflows that include robot hardware with seamless handoffs to human staff.
Live Demonstrations:
Transport equipment to client sites using the Company van and execute professional on-site "Proof of Concept" (POC) demonstrations and trials.
Documentation :
Maintain organized activity, account, and pipeline tracking within the Company CRM platform.
Strategic Handoff:
Hand over fully qualified accounts with site survey data and results from demonstrations/trials to the Company leadership for proposal and quote presentation, contract negotiation, closing, and deployment. Future Growth Opportunity / Career Progression As the territory expands, the Company may elect to elevate the Contractor's scope to include full-lifecycle sales execution with increased commission participation. In this expanded capacity, the Contractor will assume responsibility for the entire sales cycle—including preparing proposals, customizing quotes, leading final contract negotiations, and driving agreements to a close. Requirements
Technical DNA:
3+ years in technical sales, cleaning/logistics/other capital equipment sales, or cleaning/logistics automation. Prior robotics industry experience is not required; strong technical sales aptitude and willingness to learn are more important.
Professional Commitment:
This role requires a professional capable of managing and prioritizing the Southeastern Michigan territory to meet mutually agreed-upon pipeline milestones.
Field-Ready:
Ability to manage field operations throughout the Extended Metro Detroit territory as required to fulfill client site surveys and demonstration schedules.
Equipment Handling:
Comfortable handling demonstration equipment using dollies, pallet jacks, and the Company transport vehicle with an electrically operated lift, during client demonstrations.
Communication:
Ability to explain robot features and autonomous cleaning/delivery outcomes to non-technical stakeholders.
Independence:
Must have your own "tools of the trade" (reliable vehicle for client outreach visits except when transporting robots in the Company van, laptop, and mobile phone). Territory Performance Standards To support successful territorial development, this role is expected to maintain consistent pipeline activity within Southeastern Michigan. Following an initial 30-day territory onboarding, training, and ramp period, successful territory performance would typically include actively generating 4 to 6 qualified Site Discovery Surveys and Scheduled Proof-of-Concept (POC) Demonstrations per a rolling 30-day period. Professional Compensation Schedule Top performers may achieve six-figure annualized earnings as the territory scales. The compensation structure has the following components:
Weekly Base Service Fee:
A base service fee of $750/week to support your dedicated focus on building our regional sales pipeline.
Margin Participation:
Performance-based commissions tied to project profitability, typically resulting in approximately $500
- 2,500+ per successful deployment depending on project scope and unit count.
Commissions will be based on 5% of Project Gross Profit (calculated after Cost of Goods and Royalties) on all product, installation, and service contract sales. Commissions are disbursed on the standard monthly cycle following the Company's receipt of cleared funds from the client. o
Example:
A single robot transaction yielding $10,000
- 20,000 in net margin delivers a $500
- 1,000 commission payout.
o
Example:
If just 2 of your monthly pipeline leads close successfully, it results in an additional $1,000
- 2,000 per month. Multiple-unit deployments scale this upside dramatically. o Many deployments involve recurring expansion opportunities, additional robot units, and ongoing service relationships.
Full-Lifecycle Margin Participation :
In the event the Company requests, and the Contractor accepts, a transition to the future full-lifecycle sales scope (handling the deal from initial outreach through final contract close), the commission rate escalates to 10% of Project Gross Profit (calculated after Cost of Goods and Royalties) on all product, installation, and service contract sales resulting from those closed transactions.
Successful Deployment Bonus :
An additional performance bonus of $250 is paid for every qualified lead handed over which results in a completed, successful hardware installation, provided the client remains active and satisfied through the first 60 days post go-live, and the Contractor is still providing services to the Company.
Optional Technical Deployment Fee :
In the event the Company requests, and the Contractor accepts, an assignment to perform a full technical site deployment
- including mapping, environment testing, and client staff training for a closed account
- the Contractor will be paid an additional service fee of $250 per robot unit deployed.
