Job Description

Senior Sales Engineer Custom CNC Machining & Fabrication | Talladega, Alabama Position at a Glance Job title Senior Sales Engineer Department Sales & Business Development Location Talladega, Alabama — hybrid field + office Reports to Owner / General Manager Target markets Wire & cable, heavy industrial, defense, shipbuilding, mining, OEMs Travel Client sites, trade shows, and industry events Certifications
ISO 9001
2015 certified About Talladega Castings & Machine Co. Talladega Castings & Machine Co. (TCMCO) is an
ISO 9001
2015 certified, ITAR registered precision machining and metal fabrication company headquartered in Talladega, Alabama. We manufacture complex, tight-tolerance components and assemblies for customers across multiple demanding industries — including wire and cable manufacturers, heavy industrial facilities, defense contractors, shipbuilders, mining operations, and OEM equipment manufacturers. With CNC machining and fabrication under one roof, we deliver finished assemblies with fewer vendor handoffs, shorter lead times, and a single point of accountability from raw material to shipped part. The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer who is a skilled hunter and relationship builder across multiple industrial markets. This is a newly created role designed to accelerate TCMCO's growth across our target industries. You will be the primary business development driver for the company, building a customer portfolio from the ground up while maintaining and expanding key existing accounts. You will work directly with the owner and operations team, with a clear path to leading the company's commercial function as we scale. This is not a passive account management role. We are looking for a self-directed sales professional who can identify opportunities across diverse industries, translate customer requirements into compelling proposals, and close new business while bringing genuine technical credibility to every conversation. Target Markets TCMCO's capabilities serve a broad range of demanding industries. The Senior Sales Engineer will develop and grow business across all of the following segments: Wire & Cable Manufacturers Wire and cable producers require precision machined components — dies, spooling hardware, tension assemblies, guide components, and custom fixtures — that must perform reliably under continuous high-cycle production conditions. TCMCO's combination of tight-tolerance machining and in-house fabrication makes us a strong fit for both production and MRO requirements in this segment. Heavy Industrial & MRO Large industrial facilities — power generation, chemical processing, steel and metals production, paper and pulp, and general manufacturing — require machined replacement parts and fabricated assemblies on tight turnaround. TCMCO's broad capability set and Alabama location make us an accessible, responsive source for plant maintenance and reliability teams across the Southeast and beyond. Defense & Government Contractors TCMCO is
ISO 9001
2015 certified and ITAR registered, with active program experience supporting Anniston Army Depot. We serve prime contractors and Tier 2 defense suppliers who require precision machined and fabricated components with full traceability, documentation, and compliance with military specifications. Targets include prime contractors and subcontractors across ground vehicle, depot maintenance, and ordnance programs. Shipbuilding & Marine Shipbuilders and marine equipment manufacturers require heavy fabricated structures, precision machined shaft components, mounting hardware, and custom assemblies built to demanding tolerance and material specifications. TCMCO's combined machining and fabrication capability positions us to serve both new build and overhaul programs across commercial and naval marine markets. Mining & Extraction Mining operations depend on machined wear parts, fabricated structural components, conveyor components, and custom replacement parts that must withstand extreme operating environments. The ability to manufacture both the machined and fabricated elements of a mining assembly in one facility — with fast turnaround — is a strong value proposition for procurement teams managing remote operations and unplanned downtime. OEM Equipment Manufacturers Original equipment manufacturers in agriculture, construction, material handling, and industrial equipment require precision machined and fabricated components built to print, on schedule, and to a consistent quality standard. TCMCO serves OEMs as a primary or qualified second source, offering the responsiveness of a mid-size shop with the capability range of a much larger operation. Key Responsibilities 1. New Business Development Identify and pursue new customers across all target market segments through outbound prospecting, referrals, trade shows, supplier registration portals, and industry association relationships Build and manage a qualified pipeline using Apollo.io and LinkedIn Sales Navigator; maintain accurate, current records of all sales activity and opportunities in the CRM at all times Represent TCMCO at relevant trade shows, industry events, and supplier days across target markets Develop and execute a segment-specific outreach strategy for each target market, prioritizing accounts with the highest potential for long-term, recurring revenue 2. Account Management & Client Relationships Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, serving as the primary point of contact for all commercial matters Proactively identify opportunities to grow existing account revenue through expanded scope, additional part families, or new programs within each customer Conduct regular account reviews and follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and identify risks to account retention early Host facility tours for prospective and existing customers — TCMCO's combined machining and fabrication capability is one of our strongest closing tools 3. Technical Sales & Capability Presentations Present TCMCO's full capability set — CNC turning, milling, 5-axis machining, fabrication, welding, laser/burn/EDM cutting, gear cutting, painting/blasting, and equipment assembly — to procurement managers, engineers, and plant leadership Translate customer drawing and specification requirements into accurate capability assessments and coordinate with operations to confirm scope, lead time, and fit before advancing an opportunity Tailor technical presentations and proposals to the specific language, priorities, and decision-making process of each target market segment Articulate TCMCO's single-source machining-plus-fabrication advantage, ISO 9001:2015 certification, and ITAR registration as differentiators appropriate to each customer's requirements 4. Sales Reporting & Market Intelligence Maintain complete and current CRM records in Apollo.
io:
all contacts, accounts, opportunities, activities, and pipeline stages updated in real time Deliver a weekly pipeline report and monthly performance summary to the owner covering revenue, new accounts, win rate, and forecast Provide ongoing market intelligence on trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across all target segments Surface customer feedback on pricing, lead times, quality, and service to operations leadership to support continuous improvement Qualifications Required 5+ years of B2B sales experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or a closely related technical sales environment serving multiple end markets Demonstrated track record of prospecting, qualifying, and closing new accounts across industrial or manufacturing markets — not just managing existing ones Strong technical aptitude: ability to read engineering drawings, understand machining and fabrication processes, and discuss tolerances, materials, and manufacturing methods credibly with engineers and procurement professionals Experience selling to procurement managers, plant maintenance leaders, supply chain directors, and engineering teams at industrial manufacturers or OEMs Proficiency with CRM tools (Apollo.io preferred) and LinkedIn Sales Navigator for prospecting and pipeline management Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% — client visits, trade shows, and industry events across the Southeast and nationally Strongly Preferred Prior experience selling precision machined components, fabricated assemblies, or custom manufacturing services to customers in wire and cable, heavy industrial, defense, shipbuilding, mining, or OEM markets Existing customer relationships within one or more of TCMCO's target market segments Familiarity with
ISO 9001
2015, ITAR, and the quality and compliance requirements of defense or industrial supply chains Experience developing new markets or new customer segments — not just selling deeper into an existing customer base Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, industrial technology, or a related field Why TCMCO Full machining and fabrication under one roof is a genuine competitive advantage — most competitors can only offer one or the other, which means more vendors, more handoffs, and longer lead times for customers Six distinct target markets give you a wide runway for new business development — you are never dependent on one industry's cycle
ISO 9001
2015 certification and ITAR registration are already in place — significant compliance hurdles that open doors in defense and other regulated industries are cleared before your first call Growing company with real ambition — TCMCO is investing in sales, systems, and people to reach the next level; this role is central to that plan
