This position is ideal for someone who is outgoing, organized, confident, compassionate, and passionate about helping Veterans and families access quality non-medical home care support. This is a salary-based position with commission opportunities, performance incentives, and growth potential. Position Summary The Business Development Representative for VA Client Outreach & Retention will be responsible for building strong community relationships, developing referral partnerships, generating new client inquiries, supporting Veteran-focused outreach, and helping retain clients after services begin. This role focuses on connecting with: Veterans and their families VA-related contacts and community resources Hospitals and rehab facilities Skilled nursing facilities Assisted living and memory care communities Senior centers and Veteran organizations Social workers and discharge planners Community partners serving seniors and Veterans The BDR will work closely with the Helping Hearts office team to ensure leads are followed up on, intake information is gathered correctly, and new clients receive a warm and professional start to services. What You'll Do As a Business Development Representative, you will: Build and maintain referral relationships with VA-connected community partners, senior service providers, discharge planners, rehab facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, Veteran organizations, and local agencies. Generate new client leads through outreach, networking, facility visits, follow-up calls, and community relationship building. Educate Veterans and families about Helping Hearts USA LLC's non-medical personal support services. Help families understand private-pay care, VA-authorized care, and VA-related next steps without promising VA approval or payment. Follow up with prospective clients, referral sources, families, and community partners in a timely and professional manner. Assist with gathering intake details needed to begin services. Support client retention by checking in after services begin and communicating concerns to the office team. Attend community events, Veteran outreach events, networking meetings, and facility visits as assigned. Track outreach activity, referral sources, contacts, follow-ups, and client progress using company systems. Maintain professional communication with the operations team regarding prospects, active leads, and client updates. Represent Helping Hearts USA LLC with integrity, warmth, professionalism, and compassion. VA Client Outreach Responsibilities This role will support Veteran-focused outreach and client development. The BDR does not approve VA benefits, determine eligibility, or guarantee VA payment. Responsibilities may include:
Asking appropriate intake questions for Veteran clients. Gathering the Veteran's name, contact information, VA facility, VA social worker contact, care needs, requested schedule, and family/POA contact. Encouraging families to contact the Veteran's VA primary care provider, VA social worker, or VA Community Care office when VA-covered care is being requested. Explaining that VA-covered services require VA review and written authorization. Helping families understand private-pay options while they are working through VA-related processes. Building relationships with organizations that support Veterans, seniors, caregivers, and families. Maintaining ethical, accurate, and professional communication when discussing VA-related service options. Helping Hearts Requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver's license. Must have reliable transportation for facility visits, community outreach, networking events, and client/referral meetings. Must have active automobile insurance if driving for company-related outreach. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be able to pass any required registry checks, including applicable abuse, neglect, or offender registry screenings. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must have a working smartphone and be comfortable using company communication and tracking systems. Must be able to communicate professionally by phone, text, email, and in person. Must be comfortable making outbound calls, visiting facilities, following up with leads, and attending networking events. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to manage time independently. Must be able to follow company documentation and reporting requirements. Must be able to maintain client confidentiality and follow HIPAA-conscious communication standards. Must be able to represent Helping Hearts USA LLC professionally in the community. Must be able to travel within the assigned territory as needed. Must be comfortable working with performance goals, outreach expectations, commission opportunities, and incentive-based growth. Must be able to work closely with the operations team and provide timely updates on referrals, leads, and client activity. Must be able to complete required onboarding, orientation, and company training. Required Skills The ideal candidate should have: Strong communication skills. Strong follow-up skills. Preferred Experience Preferred but not required: Home care, healthcare, senior care, hospice, rehab, hospital, VA, Veteran services, or community outreach experience. Sales, marketing, business development, client relations, referral development, or account management experience. Experience working with Veterans, seniors, family caregivers, social workers, discharge planners, or healthcare professionals. Familiarity with non-medical home care services. Experience using systems such as WellSky, OpenPhone, ConnectTeam, Apploi, CRM platforms, or similar tools. Experience attending networking events, community meetings, facility visits, or professional outreach events. Company Systems Used The BDR may be required to use company-approved systems, including but not limited to: OpenPhone or company phone system WellSky or client management system ConnectTeam or timekeeping/tracking system Apploi or hiring/referral platform Email, text, and other approved communication tools All documentation, lead tracking, referral updates, prospect notes, and client-related communication must be completed accurately and timely.
