Business Development Specialist Job Description The Business Development Specialist drives new revenue by prospecting, making high-volume cold calls, and converting leads into sales. This role focuses on consistently meeting and exceeding sales goals while accurately entering and managing sales orders in internal systems and Excel-based databases. Responsibilities Prospect and identify new business opportunities through high-volume outbound cold calls. Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance metrics on a consistent basis. Conduct inside sales activities, including follow-up calls, lead nurturing, and relationship building with prospective customers. Qualify prospects, understand their needs, and present appropriate solutions to win new business. Perform accurate and timely sales order entry into internal systems and Excel databases. Maintain organized and up-to-date records of leads, contacts, and sales activities using Microsoft Office and Excel. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth handoff of new business and accurate order processing. Monitor personal performance metrics and take proactive steps to improve call volume, conversion rates, and overall sales results. Follow established sales processes and best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality customer interactions. Adhere to attendance and schedule expectations to support reliable sales coverage during business hours. Essential Skills At least 6 months of sales or business development experience. Proven experience with inside sales and business development activities, including cold calling. Strong proficiency in Excel, including working with databases and data entry. Experience with sales order entry and maintaining accurate records. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage high call volumes while maintaining professionalism and quality in customer interactions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with prospects over the phone. Ability to work toward and achieve defined sales goals and performance metrics. High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a contract-to-hire or similar fast-paced sales environment. Comfort working with Excel databases for tracking sales activities and customer information. Ability to quickly learn new systems and tools related to sales order entry and customer management. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple prospects and tasks simultaneously. Self-motivated, goal-oriented mindset with a focus on winning new business. Work Environment This is an in-office position with a Monday through Friday schedule, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity for long-term growth. The role requires strict adherence to attendance expectations to ensure consistent coverage during business hours. You will work in a professional office setting using Microsoft Office, Excel, and internal systems to manage sales activities, order entry, and customer information. The environment supports high-volume calling and structured sales processes, providing a clear path for performance-based advancement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camarillo, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.00/hr.
