Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School, 220 Taylor St NE, Washington, DC 20017 About the Role The Robotics Programs Supervisor is a senior support role responsible for overseeing 3-4 robotics teams at Odin Wise Academy across FLL Explore, FLL Challenge, and LEGO Robotics & Engineering programs as needed. You'll work closely with the lead coaches of each team, providing guidance, accountability, and hands-on support to ensure every team stays on track throughout the season. This role reports directly to the Assistant Director of Robotics and is a critical link between day-to-day coaching and program leadership. What You'll Do Oversee 3-4 robotics teams, providing consistent check-ins, support, and accountability to lead coaches of each team throughout the season. Serve as the primary point of contact between lead coaches and the Assistant Director of Robotics, surfacing needs, flagging blockers, and escalating issues as needed. Attend practices across your assigned teams on a rotating basis to observe, support, and ensure sessions are running effectively. Step in and provide direct support to any team as needed, whether due to a coach absence, a difficult practice, or a team falling behind on season milestones. Hold weekly check-ins with each lead coach to review team progress, competition readiness, and any logistical or team dynamic issues. Report to the Assistant Director of Robotics with a weekly summary of team statuses, highlights, and concerns. Support lead coaches in competition preparation, ensuring teams meet all submission deadlines, judging requirements, and travel logistics. Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive environment across all teams; reinforce FIRST® Core Values with coaches and students. Assist with LEGO Robotics & Engineering programs or other Odin Wise STEM initiatives as directed. What You Bring Currently enrolled in college or a working professional with hands-on experience in FIRST® LEGO® League programs (Explore, Challenge) or VEX robotics programs as a competitor, coach, or volunteer; prior FLL experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills; comfortable managing multiple teams and priorities simultaneously. Natural leadership presence with the ability to support, motivate, and hold accountable a team of high school-aged coaches. Proactive problem-solver who can identify issues early and take initiative without waiting to be directed. Ability to pass a background check; valid U.S. work authorization. Nice-to-Have Previous FLL coaching, alum, or volunteer experience. Experience mentoring or managing high school students or peers. Background in STEM education, youth program coordination, or community leadership. CPR/First Aid certification. Time Commitment FLL Challenge (Sept-Nov/Dec): Rotating practice visits and weekly coach check-ins across assigned teams; travel to regional qualifiers and, if applicable, state championships (within
VA/DC/MD
). FLL Explore (Sept 2026-May 2027): Rotating practice visits and weekly coach check-ins; travel to the FLL Explore Festival (local, within

LEGO Robotics & Engineering :
Year-round support as needed across ongoing classes. Weekly reporting to the Assistant Director of Robotics throughout the full season. Support You'll Receive Direct access to the Assistant Director of Robotics and Director of Robotics for guidance and escalation. Season playbooks, team rosters, and program materials for all assigned teams. Access to all equipment, challenge sets, and Odin Wise mentor resources.
