We collaborate closely with the design community to transform concepts, renderings, inspiration imagery, and creative ideas into exceptional wallcovering solutions. Our in-house design team supports projects from concept through production, making Sur La Mur a trusted creative partner throughout the design process. Position Overview We are seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Design & Office Assistant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to gain valuable hands-on experience within the interior design, creative, and custom wallcovering industries. Working closely with our President, Director of Business Development, and Design Team, this role provides exposure to both the creative and operational sides of the business. The successful candidate will assist with design support, office administration, client communication, CRM management, sample coordination, and general day-to-day business operations. This position is ideal for someone looking to build practical experience, develop new skills, and grow their career within a creative and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities / Design Support Assist the design team with project preparation and artwork organization. Support the development of custom wallcovering and mural projects. Prepare presentation materials and design documentation. Assist with image sourcing, file preparation, and project organization. Learn wallcovering production processes, artwork scaling, and design development techniques. Support designers with project-related administrative tasks. Office Administration Answer incoming phone calls and assist with general office inquiries. Support daily office operations and administrative functions. Assist with scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars. Organize digital files, project records, and internal documentation. Maintain office supplies and assist with office organization. Support company events, presentations, and Lunch & Learn preparations. Sales & Business Development Support Assist the President and Director of Business Development with administrative and organizational tasks. Prepare and assemble sample packages and presentation materials. Coordinate sample requests and shipping. Deliver samples and materials to local clients when required. Assist with follow-up communications and client correspondence. Support presentation preparation and marketing initiatives. CRM & Data Management Maintain and update client records within the CRM system. Enter new contacts, leads, and account information. Assist with tracking client interactions, opportunities, and follow-up activities. Help maintain accurate account data and reporting. Support outreach campaigns and database management. Desired Skills & Experience Degree, diploma, or coursework (or similar experience) in Interior Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Experience with Canva, CRM platforms, or project management software is beneficial. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Comfortable learning new software and systems.
