Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director, Food Packaging Sales, North Region, this role will lead the commercial function for the open market sales in Canada. This role is responsible for generating more than 55K tons in annual sales volume across Smurfit Westrock\u2019s full suite of substrates (CNK, SBS, CRB, UUK). This is a very defined role, maintaining individual account responsibility while also directing and implementing the commercial strategy for the region. How you will impact
Smurfit WestRock:
- Execute sales plans in the market, including unique strategies based on geographies, products, and channels.
- Develop a detailed understanding of competitors, customers, and other key market factors to help inform strategic decisions.
- Partnering with the operations and technical teams across all the Consumer Mills to onboard new customers and products, remedy quality claims, and introduce new products to the market.
- Align and lead the business to deliver sustainable growth, increased revenue and margins, and improved customer satisfaction.
- Support the integrated business planning process, develop annual sales and expense budgets, as well as quarterly and monthly sales forecasts.
- Implement customer experience strategy and initiatives to enhance key business relationships.
- Formulate and deploy the best commercial practices within the team, incorporating enterprise strategies and initiatives to drive profitability.
- Work collaboratively across the organization, especially with the Supply Chain team, Operations team, and peer sales leaders, to support consistency of approach and communication to the customer.
What you need to succeed:
- A bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent is required.
- 15+ years of progressive commercial experience; a mix of sales, marketing and product management is preferred.
- Preferred experience in engineered solutions and/or materials; experience in the folding carton pkg market is a plus.
- Proven track record of successfully working as a business partner with the procurement and management teams within the customer base.
- Demonstrated experience in building, developing, and motivating a high-performance sales and commercial team, including experience with organizational design/development.
- Strong business and financial acumen required; understand and utilize metrics/measurements to ensure success.
- A hands-on leadership approach in leveraging systems and processes to drive significant and profitable growth.
- Deep commitment to a high-performance culture
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, influencing, and negotiating skills.
- Ability to travel in Canadian territory 50-60% per month, spanning from Nova Scotia to Winnipeg, with a major concentration in Toronto.
