Job Description

Cabinet Sales - Design Specialist Merit Management Group Full-time, on-site Ames, Iowa We are seeking a Cabinet Sales and Design Specialist to help us provide fine custom cabinetry to new customers throughout Iowa. In this role, you will drive cabinet sales while working directly with walk-in customers, builder partners, and remodelers to understand their needs, present product and pricing options, translate ideas into practical designs, resulting in project sales. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the design-sales process and seeing projects through from concept to installation. Key Responsibilities Work with customers to educate and provide them with the product features, quality differences, care/maintenance, and lead times. Design cabinetry layouts (kitchens, baths, mudrooms, laundry, etc.) including storage solutions, door styles, and finishes. Prepare drawings, renderings, and layouts using design software (e.g., Chief Architect, 2020 Design, CAD, or similar). Provide accurate measurements, quotes, and proposals; revise designs based on customer feedback.
Project management:
Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to place and track orders, verify accuracy, and resolve any product or delivery issues. Build and maintain relationships with local builders, remodelers, and trade partners. Qualifications & Experience Experience in cabinetry sales, cabinetry design, or a related home improvement/design role. Proficiency in design software Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple active projects at once. Sales mindset with the ability to guide customers, present options, and close projects confidently. Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys working in a showroom setting. Availability to work standard business hours with occasional evenings or Saturdays as needed for customer appointments.
