Vander Haag's is seeking a motivated and relationship-focused individual to join our Whole Unit Sales team in Des Moines, IA. This position will begin by helping manage inbound sales leads, prospecting new customers, and learning the truck and equipment industry. As your knowledge and experience grow, you'll transition into a full time sales role with responsibility for your own customer accounts, inventory, and sales opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving customer problems, and wants a long-term career with uncapped earning potential. No prior truck sales experience is required — we'll teach you the industry.
What You Will Do In This Role:
During Your Training & Development Phase :
Respond quickly and professionally to inbound sales leads Qualify customer needs and match customers with available inventory Follow up on website, Truck Paper, and other digital sales inquiries Build relationships with prospective customers through phone, email, and in-person communication Maintain accurate customer and sales records in company systems Prepare sales quotes and assist with sales transactions Learn truck specifications, applications, inventory, financing, and trade evaluations Work alongside experienced sales team members to develop product knowledge and sales skills
As You Progress Into Whole Unit Sales :
Prospect and develop new customer relationships Manage your own sales and customer accounts Appraise trades and assist with inventory acquisition Analyze market trends and identify sales opportunities Help stock and manage truck inventory Coordinate reconditioning estimates and vehicle preparation Negotiate and close truck and equipment sales Promote Vander Haag's products, services, and support programs Work closely with Parts, Service, and other departments to deliver exceptional customer service
What We're Looking For:
A candidate who enjoys talking with people and building relationships Someone who is self-motivated and comfortable making outbound calls Strong organizational and follow-up skills Willingness to learn a new industry Comfortable using computers, email, and CRM systems
Qualifications:
Must have a current, valid driver's license Have previous sales, customer service, agriculture, trucking, diesel, equipment, or business experience (helpful but not required)
Hours:
7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday No evenings, weekends, or holidays required.
Compensation:
Base salary ($60,000 - $70,000/year). As this position transfers into a full time sales capacity, you will become eligible for our uncapped sales commission program (paid bi-weekly). Vander Haag's will guarantee your commission during your training period. This position offers a guaranteed base salary while training, along with an uncapped commission program.
