PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Engagement & Sales Proactively reach out to existing, new, and lapsed customers to grow account revenue and expand product adoption. Prospect and qualify new customer leads through outbound calls, emails, and follow-ups. Present product offerings, promotions, and new items to customers using a consultative sales approach. Own the full sales cycle for assigned accounts, from initial outreach to order placement to post-sale follow-up. Meet or exceed defined monthly and quarterly sales targets, revenue goals, and activity KPIs. Prepare and deliver basic sales quotes or proposals tailored to individual customer needs. Actively analyze customer purchase history to identify upselling, cross-selling, and reactivation opportunities, and execute outreach with the goal of growing account spend. Monitor customer order history and follow up consistently to strengthen relationships and drive repeat business. Customer Service & Account Support Serve as a primary point of contact for inbound and outbound customer communications via phone and email. Provide responsive, solution-oriented service to both new and existing customers. Assist with onboarding new customer accounts and maintaining accurate, up-to-date customer records. Maintain proactive communication with customers to manage expectations, resolve inquiries, and handle complaints promptly and professionally. Collaborate with the sales team and buyers on executing promotions, pricing changes, and managing customer programs. Order Management & Operations Perform accurate and timely data entry of customer orders, pricing, and related documentation using company systems, including Provision. Track and update open orders, monitor shortages and out-of-stock items, and ensure clear communication and resolution with customers. Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams to support accurate and timely order fulfillment and delivery. Prepare and send invoices, shipping paperwork, and billing documents to customers and internal teams as needed. Vendor & Cross-Departmental Collaboration Communicate regularly with internal buyers to ensure product availability and alignment with customer needs. Maintain sales calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments with customers. Participate in sales meetings and actively contribute to team strategy, updates, and performance goals. Foster cross-departmental collaboration with purchasing, sales, and logistics to support efficiency and service excellence. Reporting & Systems Utilize CRM tools and internal systems (e.g., Provision, Power BI) to document customer interactions, monitor order status, and generate basic reports. Compile, review, and present sales-related data for internal use and vendor communications. Use Microsoft Office Suite to manage documents, communications, and support presentations. Performance Expectations Meet monthly and quarterly sales targets for assigned accounts or territory. Maintain a defined customer contact cadence (e.g., minimum outbound calls/emails/visits per week) to drive proactive engagement. Achieve customer retention and satisfaction benchmarks as defined by the Sales Operations Director. Track and report personal sales activity, pipeline, and account updates in CRM on a consistent basis. Demonstrate measurable growth in account revenue within the assigned customer base on a quarterly basis. Team Contribution & Development Stay current on product offerings, weekly pricing updates, and industry developments. Participate in cross-training to support team flexibility and coverage as needed. Demonstrate accountability, organization, and effective time management in daily work. Actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or equivalent combination of sales and service experience preferred. A minimum of 2-4 years of inside sales and/or customer service experience, ideally in food distribution, manufacturing, or a similar industry, is preferred. Demonstrated inside sales experience with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets; sales experience is required, not optional. Comfortable with proactive outbound customer outreach and account development. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with CRM or ERP systems is a plus. Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and work both independently and as part of a team. Purchasing experience is nice to have. Occasional travel to customer sites within business hours may be required. Physical & Work Environment Primarily office-based with occasional travel to customer sites. Must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer and phone for the majority of the workday. Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 lbs. may be required. The Sales & Services Representative is a dual-role position responsible for both driving sales growth and delivering exceptional customer service within the Sales Department. This individual builds and nurtures customer relationships, identifies and acts on revenue opportunities, and ensures a seamless experience from first contact through order fulfillment and follow-up. The ideal candidate is proactive, commercially minded, and customer-focused, equally comfortable developing new business, growing existing accounts, and resolving service issues with professionalism and urgency.
