Tooling/Abrasives Sales Technician

Position Overview:

The Tooling & Abrasives Sales Technician is responsible for supporting sales and customer applications for Nagel Precision honing and tooling, abrasives, and related process solutions. This position works directly with customers to identify tooling requirements, improve machining performance, troubleshoot process issues, and generate tooling and abrasive sales opportunities. The role requires strong technical knowledge of honing and superfinishing processes along with the ability to build customer relationships and support ongoing production applications in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Support sales growth for honing tooling, abrasives, and related consumable products. Interface directly with existing and prospective customers to evaluate process requirements and production challenges. Recommend tooling and abrasive solutions to improve quality, cycle time, tool life, and overall process performance. Prepare quotations, tooling recommendations, and technical proposals. Conduct on-site customer visits for application support, troubleshooting, testing, and process evaluation. Work closely with machine sales and engineering teams to support customer applications and new business opportunities. Monitor customer production performance and identify additional tooling and abrasive sales opportunities. Provide feedback to management regarding customer needs, market trends, and competitor technologies. Maintain accurate documentation and communicate customer requirements through written reports and follow-up activities. Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a professional customer-focused approach.

Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Minimum of:

2 years of machine tool, tooling, abrasives, or precision machining experience with a technical degree, or 3 years of related manufacturing or machining industry experience. Experience with honing, superfinishing, grinding, abrasives, or precision machining processes preferred. Skills & Competencies Knowledge of honing and/or superfinishing tooling and abrasive processes. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Ability to work directly with customers in a production manufacturing environment. Ability to identify customer requirements and translate them into technical recommendations and written reports. Strong communication and organizational skills. Self-motivated with the ability to manage travel and customer schedules independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
