Project Estimator/Inside Sales Specialist American Society of Employers - 3.8 Detroit, MI Job Details Full-time $68,000 - $75,000 a year 4 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Qualifications Estimating material requirements from blueprints Customer communication Teamwork ERP systems Data management Construction drawing review Attention to detail Associate's degree Full Job Description We are assisting an ASE Member in seeking a detail-oriented Project Estimator / Inside Sales Specialist to support their growing business by preparing accurate project quotations, interpreting technical drawings, and guiding customers through the quoting and order process. This role is ideal for someone with strong estimating experience who also excels at customer interaction and problem-solving. A critical component of success in this role is the ability to perform nesting and optimize material usage —ensuring customer orders are fulfilled efficiently while minimizing waste. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Quotation Management Prepare accurate, timely quotes for customers, contractors, and distributors Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents Perform material takeoffs and analyze project requirements Apply nesting principles to determine optimal material usage and cost efficiency Identify gaps, conflicts, or missing information in project plans Collaborate with engineering, production, and operations on feasibility and pricing Customer & Sales Support Respond to customer inquiries on pricing, products, and applications Support outside sales with estimating and project coordination Recommend product solutions based on project requirements Provide excellent service and follow-through to drive business conversion Order & Project Coordination Review purchase orders for accuracy against quotes Coordinate internally to ensure timing and delivery expectations are met Communicate project updates, timelines, and order status Systems & Documentation Maintain quotes, orders, and customer data in CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce preferred) Track and manage revisions, documentation, and sales activity What Makes You Successful Strong attention to detail and estimating accuracy Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously High sense of urgency and responsiveness Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to think spatially and solve material optimization challenges (nesting) Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
Qualifications Required:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience may be considered 2+ years of experience in estimating, inside sales, or project coordination within manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments Experience interpreting drawings and performing material takeoffs Hands-on experience with nesting or material optimization required Strong spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Experience with fabricated metal, architectural, or building products CRM/ERP experience (Salesforce, Business Central a plus) Strong Excel skills
Pay:
$68,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
