Job Description

Metro Trading Association (MTA) is a B2B trade and barter organization that helps local businesses conserve cash, fill downtime, and grow revenue by trading their products and services within a trusted membership network. MTA does not collect a fee until the member makes a sale — we earn a 12% transaction fee only after a member completes a trade. Position OverviewWe are seeking 7 motivated 1099 Outside Sales Representatives — one per district — to grow our membership base across Southeast Michigan and Northern Ohio. This is a commission-only, independent contractor role for self-starters who enjoy networking, meeting business owners face-to-face, and closing deals. You must live within your assigned selling territory.
Districts Available:
Flint, Brighton, Metro Detroit (multiple), along the water, and Toledo, OH area. This Is NOT a Salaried PositionThis is a 1099 independent contractor role. There is no base salary, no benefits, and no guaranteed pay. Compensation is 100% performance-based. If you are looking for a steady paycheck, this role is not for you.   • Prospect and generate new leads through cold calls, in-person visits, networking events, and referrals
  • Conduct in-person and virtual meetings with business owners and decision-makers
  • Present and explain the MTA barter program and close new memberships
  • Complete onboarding welcome calls with new members
  • Use CRM tools to track activity and pipeline
  • Represent MTA professionally in your territory Compensation Structure
  • 50% of the application fee for every new member you enroll
  • 100 trade credits after the new member's welcome call
  • 100 additional trade credits after the new member's first trade sale
  • Trade credits are spendable within the MTA network What We're Looking For
  • Proven outside B2B sales experience (business development, territory sales, membership, referral selling, merchant services, commercial insurance, media/print/marketing sales, etc.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable working independently
  • Lives within the assigned selling district (required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Basic CRM or sales tool experience a plus
  • Barter or trade experience a plus but not required
