Job Description

Contractor Sales and Showroom Support
  • Southampton, NY The Contractor Counter Sales Representative (In-House) has responsibility to service and further develop all contractor counter Tile & Stone sales against the required annual targets while managing and optimizing the inventory of the connected warehouse, transfers of necessary product, product assortment and overall in-house customer experience.
The Contractor Counter Sales Representative will be responsible for developing new relationships proactively with the contractor base of the respective market, and also provide showroom support to the Retail Sales team.
Strategy:
  • Service incoming contractor business to provide a top-tier customer experience through each phase of the sales process.
  • Evaluate and recommend inventory based on market needs and monitor for changes over time.
  • Enhance sales with existing Tile Contractor business by developing and strengthening relationships.
  • Enhance the overall contractor warehouse experience which drives greater demand, traffic and customer loyalty.
  • Maintain a safe and clean warehouse environment for employees of Tile & Stone as well as its contractors and customers.
  • Develop relationships with vendor representatives to ensure that product knowledge and selection is up-to-date and in demand.
  • Communicate changes in the market, competitive intelligence and recommendations to enhance our overall value proposition to include pricing, promotions and programs.
Sales:
  • Drive in-house contractor sales. (Sales targets and plans are updated annually.)
  • Communicate and review sales/margin targets monthly with management to align on corrective actions and go-forward planning.
  • Engage in all inventory reviews to drive overall demand while identifying risk and opportunities relative to contractor sales.
Customer Service:
  • Ensure contractors/customers have the best possible experience by maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Engage all contractor/customer requests and issues with full attention and expedite responses to logistical and/or technical issues/concerns through the proper channels.
  • Maintain contacts with all vendor representatives to assist in technical/logistical concerns.
Product:
  • Assess current Tile & Stone Company warehouse stock/inventory and provide recommendations regarding market-relevant needs.
  • Work with Tile & Stone Company main warehouse to ensure that transfer of product and inventory is handled and maintained properly.
  • Maintain inventory throughout the year to ensure year-end inventory is as accurate as possible.
Contractor Engagement:
  • Develop contractor relationships both at the counter and proactively, at times externally, to ensure a growing customer base.
  • Collaborate with vendor representatives to host in-house events to drive customer loyalty and engagement.
  • Execute all initiatives put forward by management to promote customer engagement in-house (e.g., training events, contractor days, clearance events, etc.)
  • Assist management to construct the best local contractor warehouse CPU experience at each location which drives increased traffic, awareness, and sales optimization. Showroom Sales Support
  • Liaison between the retail sales representatives and clients
  • Provide pricing and availability to contractors/installers for retail projects when sales rep is not available.
  • Order entry & processing sample requests including follow up as needed.
  • Provide clients with updated information on any stock or special-order material, lead time delays, shipping & tracking information.
  • Work with showroom reps to ensure the accuracy of all orders and with warehouse staff to expedite order processing and deliveries.
  • -Follow up on Sales Reps Open Orders with warehouse, purchasing and accounting to ensure timely invoicing.
  • Receiving payment and securing delivery for shipments
  • Ensuring all orders entered with accuracy and updated in a timely manner.
  • Generating freight and shipping quotes as needed
  • Answers showroom phones as part of the team.
  • Provide back up for the cashier to process daily orders and ensure daily order report completed if cashier is off or out.
  • Assistance maintaining showroom display samples and replacing to their proper places.
  • Inventory of sample swatches and ordering as needed.
  • Other admin tasks such as ordering office supplies as needed.
  • Greet retail clients as needed when all sales reps are busy
Requirements:
  • Upbeat, energetic, can-do attitude
  • Experience in sales and knowledge of tile and natural stone
  • Background in interior design industry and/or luxury retail sales
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of team
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite, experience with CRM helpful, we use Epicor.
