Description Summary:
Responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with industrial manufacturing customers while driving sales growth of electrical, automation, controls, power distribution, and industrial networking solutions. Serves as a trusted advisor to plant managers, maintenance teams, engineers, and procurement professionals by identifying operational challenges and delivering value-driven solutions that improve productivity, reliability, safety, and efficiency. Manages the full sales cycle, including business development, account planning, product specification, proposal generation, contract negotiation, and post-sale support. Collaborates with internal technical specialists, suppliers, and service teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet customer objectives. Consistently works to expand market share, increase customer retention, and achieve revenue and profitability targets within assigned territories and key accounts. Key areas of focus include industrial automation systems, PLCs, drives, motor control, sensors, instrumentation, power distribution equipment, IIoT technologies, and related services for manufacturing facilities across various industries.

Sales Manager Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered. +
- 3-5 years of outside sales experience in industrial automation, electrical distribution, controls, instrumentation, motion control, industrial networking, or related industrial products. +
- Proven experience developing and managing customer relationships within industrial manufacturing environments. +
- Working knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and industrial communications. +
- Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs, develop technical solutions, and close sales opportunities. +
- Experience conducting sales presentations, product demonstrations, and contract negotiations. +
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and consultative selling skills. +
- Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical specifications. +
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office applications. +
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout an assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications:

- 5+ years of industrial automation, controls, or electrical sales experience. +
- Experience selling products from manufacturers such as Rockwell Automation +
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in industries such as food and beverage, chemical, metals, automotive, pharmaceutical, or general industrial manufacturing. +
- Experience with project-based selling and working with plant engineers, maintenance managers, operations leaders, and purchasing teams. +
- Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
Working Conditions:

- Primarily works in a field-based sales environment, spending significant time visiting customer manufacturing facilities, industrial plants, engineering offices, and project sites within an assigned territory. +
- Regular travel is required, including local day trips and occasional overnight travel for customer meetings, training, trade shows, and supplier events. +
- Work is performed in a combination of office, home office, customer office, and industrial plant environments. +
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing settings that may include noise, moving machinery, forklifts, elevated temperatures, dust, vibration, and other industrial conditions. +
- Required to follow all customer and company safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard hats, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing when visiting production areas. +
- May occasionally access confined production spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances through large facilities, or stand for extended periods while conducting plant tours, site assessments, and customer meetings. +
- Must be able to transport and present product samples, demonstration equipment, sales materials, and trade show displays. +
- Work schedule is generally Monday through Friday; however, occasional early morning, evening, or weekend activities may be necessary to accommodate customer production schedules, shutdowns, startup activities, or industry events. +
- Position requires the ability to manage multiple customer accounts, projects, and deadlines while working independently with limited direct supervision. +
- Extensive use of computers, mobile devices, CRM software, video conferencing platforms, and other business technologies for customer communication, reporting, and territory management. +
- Requires strong interpersonal interaction with customers, suppliers, engineers, maintenance personnel, operations leaders, and internal support teams.

Essential Job Functions + Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers within assigned industrial manufacturing accounts and territory. + Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities to achieve sales growth objectives. + Conduct regular customer visits to manufacturing facilities to assess operational needs and identify opportunities for automation, controls, electrical, and process improvement solutions. + Promote and sell industrial automation, controls, power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, industrial networking, and related products and services. + Collaborate with plant engineers, maintenance personnel, operations leaders, purchasing teams, and management to develop technical and commercial solutions that meet customer requirements. + Prepare and deliver sales presentations, product demonstrations, technical proposals, quotations, and value-based recommendations. + Manage the complete sales process from prospecting and opportunity development through negotiation, order acquisition, implementation, and post-sale support. + Develop account plans and sales strategies to increase market share and revenue within assigned accounts. + Coordinate with internal sales support, technical specialists, suppliers, and service teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction. + Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately document customer interactions, opportunities, forecasts, and account activities using CRM software. + Monitor market conditions, customer trends, competitive activities, and emerging technologies to identify new business opportunities. + Participate in product training, supplier meetings, trade shows, industry events, and continuing education activities to maintain technical and industry knowledge. + Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements within established company guidelines. + Resolve customer issues and coordinate resources to ensure timely and effective problem resolution. + Meet or exceed assigned sales, gross margin, and business development objectives. + Maintain compliance with customer site safety requirements and company policies while conducting business in industrial manufacturing environments. Physical Requirements + Ability to travel frequently within an assigned sales territory. + Ability to walk through manufacturing facilities and production areas for extended periods. + Ability to climb stairs, access industrial environments, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). + Ability to lift and carry product samples, demonstration equipment, and sales materials weighing up to 25 pounds. + Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license. Veteran Compensation Range:
The compensation range for this position is $80000 to $160000 annually.
