Position Summary The Outside Sales Rep will be responsible for growing and managing key customer relationships as well as sourcing new relationships in the Joplin, MO region. This role combines technical knowledge, solution selling, and strong communication skills to help customers improve productivity, reliability, and efficiency through SMC's suite of products. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow key industrial accounts across the Joplin territory
  • Build strong relationships with OEMs, End Users, Contractors, and System Integrators
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through consultative, solution-based selling
  • Conduct impactful product presentations, demos, and proposals
  • Collaborate with engineers and vendor partners on project design and implementation
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends to bring value to customers
  • Maintain a consistent call schedule, follow up on projects and quotes, and provide exceptional customer service
  • Report territory activity, opportunities, and forecasts to management Requirements & Qualifications 3+ years of experience in industrial, electrical, or automation sales preferred Knowledge of industrial controls, automation, or data communication systems Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills Proactive and self-motivated with a customer-first mindset Valid driver's license with ability to travel as required What We Offer Base Salary (55K-80K) + Commission Structure Company Car and Company-Paid Fuel Full Benefits Package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) Paid Vacation and holidays Ongoing training and certifications from industry-leading manufacturers A collaborative team culture with opportunities for advancement At SMC, we've been empowering industry and powering progress since 1950 — and we're just getting started.
