Position Overview:
As an Outside Sales Representative at Heartland Produce, you'll be on the front lines of customer engagement, traveling frequently throughout the upper Midwest to nurture and expand our customer base. You'll collaborate closely with inside sales, business development, and quality control teams, while spending some time at our Kenosha, WI headquarters. Your primary goal will be to build long-term customer relationships, drive sales growth, and ensure Heartland's produce consistently meets the highest standards of quality, value, and service.Hours:
Variable - 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; evenings and weekends as necessary to meet customer needs (will be discussed in detail upon interview).Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Collaboration:
Work with the leadership team to execute the company's strategic sales strategy, aligning customer initiatives with broader company goals.Customer Visits:
Coordinate customer visits in collaboration with inside sales staff and the business development team to foster relationships and identify growth opportunities.Sales Presentations:
Prepare and deliver engaging, data-driven sales presentations to both prospective and existing customers, highlighting how Heartland's products can meet their needs.Sales Growth:
Drive incremental sales by identifying new opportunities with existing customers and cultivating new business.Customer Vetting:
Appropriately vet new customers to ensure they align with Heartland's high standards of quality and service.Daily Communication:
Maintain consistent communication with customers to understand their needs, address challenges, and provide exceptional service.Entertainment & Relationship Building:
Entertain customers when appropriate to strengthen relationships and solidify partnerships.Sales Reporting:
Track and report on sales, profitability, and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to management, ensuring transparency and alignment with company goals. May be required to perform additional duties as needed.Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.Experience:
Previous experience in customer service, sales, or marketing is required. Produce buying, sales, or retail experience is strongly preferred.Customer Focus:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service and relationship management.Detail-Oriented:
High level of attention to detail, especially in managing customer needs and sales data.Tech Savvy:
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP systems such as Produce Pro.Adaptable:
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that involves frequent travel.Team Player:
