Job Description
Wholesale Sales Representative Grassroots Vermont | Full-Time | Field-Based | Vermont About the Role Grassroots Vermont is looking for a driven wholesale sales representative to own and grow our wholesale account base across the state. You will be the primary point of contact for Vermont cannabis buyers, responsible for opening new accounts, driving reorder frequency, and hitting monthly and quarterly revenue targets. This is a field-based role. You will spend the majority of your time visiting accounts, building buyer relationships, and closing business across Vermont. You will work closely with the President and operations team to ensure product availability, pricing decisions, and delivery align with what you are selling. The Vermont cannabis market is small and relationship-driven. Success in this role comes from knowing your accounts, knowing the product inside and out, and showing up consistently. Core Responsibilities Wholesale Sales Open new wholesale accounts and convert prospects into active buying customers. Drive reorder frequency and grow average order size across your account base. Own monthly and quarterly revenue targets and manage your pipeline to close. Manage pricing, discounts, and deal terms within approved guidelines. Account & Territory Management Manage a defined book of wholesale accounts across Vermont. Maintain regular buyer contact through in-person visits, calls, and order check-ins. Identify underperforming accounts and execute plans to increase volume. Retain accounts by preventing stockouts, missed deliveries, and ordering gaps. Resolve order, delivery, and invoice issues quickly to protect the relationship and the revenue. Sales Operations & Reporting Manage orders through Dutchie. Maintain accurate pipeline records, account notes, and forecasts in the company's CRM or tracking system. Submit a weekly sales performance report covering revenue vs. target, order frequency, average order value, and account activation and retention. Forecast demand by account and communicate inventory needs to the GM and production team in advance. Track and report key metrics weekly and flag any material changes in account activity or market conditions. Field & Logistics Spend the majority of your time in the field visiting accounts across Vermont. Coordinate delivery timing and order fulfillment with operations. Assist with deliveries when needed to ensure orders land on time. Maintain efficient territory routing to maximize selling time. Compliance Vermont CCB wholesale compliance is not optional and is not the back office's problem, it is part of this role. The rep is the first line of defense on licensing verification, manifest accuracy, and legal sales activity. Verify that all accounts hold a valid, current Vermont CCB license before onboarding or selling to them. Ensure all wholesale transactions are accompanied by accurate CCB manifests completed in Dutchie before product leaves the facility. Follow all applicable CCB rules related to pricing, promotions, product claims, and wholesale advertising. Maintain proper delivery documentation for all orders and ensure records are accurate and accessible for compliance review. Stay current on Vermont CCB wholesale regulations and flag any changes that affect how we sell, price, or deliver. Report any licensing issues, compliance concerns, or unusual account activity to the President immediately. Product Knowledge & Consultative Selling Buyers rely on their rep to be a credible source of product information. Your ability to speak knowledgeably about what we grow and produce, and match it to what a buyer's customers actually want, is a core part of closing and retaining accounts. Develop and maintain deep knowledge of the full Grassroots Vermont product catalog including flower strains, terpene profiles, effects, formats, and potency ranges. Understand how different products perform across different customer bases and use that knowledge to guide buyer decisions. Stay current on new product releases, seasonal availability, and production capacity so you can represent the line accurately in the field. Use product knowledge to differentiate Grassroots Vermont from competing wholesale suppliers and close deals on the strength of quality and fit, not just price. Educate dispensary buyers and their staff on product attributes so they can sell through more effectively. Bring field intelligence back to the President and production team on what buyers are asking for, what is selling through, and where gaps exist in the current product lineup. Reporting Structure This role reports to the President of Hello, Hi and Grassroots Vermont. Pricing decisions, account terms outside approved guidelines, and any material operational or compliance issues should be escalated to the President. The rep is expected to operate independently in the field day-to-day with weekly check-ins and reporting to ownership. Qualifications 2 to 5 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in cannabis, alcohol, beverage, or wholesale distribution. Proven ability to open accounts, grow territory revenue, and manage a book of business independently. Comfortable owning a revenue number and being held accountable to it. Organized, responsive, and detail-oriented with strong follow-through. Willing and able to travel across Vermont multiple days per week. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must meet Vermont state and federal background check requirements. Preferred Prior cannabis wholesale or distributor sales experience. Existing relationships with Vermont dispensary buyers. Familiarity with Dutchie, CRM tools, and Vermont CCB wholesale regulations including manifest and delivery requirements. Experience working in small, regulated markets with limited retail footprints. Compensation Base Salary + Commission. Additional Benefits Generous paid time off. Employee cannabis discount where permitted by Vermont CCB regulations. Mileage reimbursement at the current IRS standard rate for all business travel. How Success Is Measured Hitting or exceeding quarterly wholesale revenue targets. Growth in active buying accounts. Increased reorder frequency and average order size. Forecast accuracy and alignment with production capacity. Account retention and minimal service issues. Accuracy and timeliness of weekly reporting and compliance documentation.
