Job Summary :
Under the supervision of the Visual Merchandise Manager & Head Merchandiser, the Merchandise Assistant is responsible for assisting their Head Merchandiser of their assigned department lead and execute our company's merchandising strategy in store. This includes providing an excellent in-store experience for customers by ensuring responsible departments are well stocked, and product is put out well and in a timely manner. The Merchandise Assistant is an entry-level position in the world of Merchandising at Eagle Eye Outfitters, with lots of opportunities to grow. Lead the charge in the organization and movement of product in the backroom, making sure items are folded and hung in an efficient manner. Be prepared to help with the loading and unloading of product from the daily DC truck runs. Assist in creating attractive visual presentations throughout each department within the store by following a floor plan or directive of the Visual Merchandise Manager, Head Merchandiser, or Inventory Management Team. Be proactive in preparing and planning for transition, seasonal changes, and special events. Daily, manage and maintain the merchandise and presentation within the assigned department(s) to ensure a superior customer experience and maximize sales. Ensure products are replenished, fluffed, and presented in an appealing way. Perform general housekeeping and straightening as needed. Rotate products periodically on fixtures, displays, and mannequins to maximize style exposure. Asses the effectiveness of product displays and store layouts. Keep eyes open to making sure appropriate signage is implemented across each department. This includes brand signage, promotional/sale signage, seasonal (holiday) signage, etc. Ensure the departmental floor layout and presentation meets the standards and vision imagined by the Visual Merchandise Manager and Inventory Management Team. Inform Store and Department Managers of updates and information they need to know. Be willing to listen to customer feedback and make adjustments as needed. Stay up-to-date on price changes and make sure they are implemented efficiently and accurately. Assist with store fixtures, mannequins, and other presentation elements with excellence, ensuring they are maximized to their fullest potential. Maintains organization and cleanliness of fixture/prop/hanger storage rooms, and backroom warehouse. Helps manage and keep track of prop inventory, fixtures, and supplies, and reports needs/discrepancies to the Head Merchandiser or Visual Merchandiser. Supports a culture within the merchandising team that ensures radical customer service and high performance is the focus of all activities. Provides quality & accurate work, achieves goals of the merchandising department in an efficient manner, and ensures the customer is at the center of every decision made. Peer-to-Peer Accountability. Serve co-workers and be willing to have courageous conversations as needed for each other's individual development and growth. Knowledgeable of and follows all company safety procedures, inventory control procedures, and company standards as listed in the employee handbook. Assists with special projects & events as assigned. This includes Physical Inventory Weekend, Store Christmas Decorating, and other projects as they arise. Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High school degree/equivalent or more. Additional educational training in visual retail design/merchandising is preferred but not required. Proven work experience in merchandise presentation, visual presentation, or retail stock experience is preferred.
Schedule Requirements:
Availability to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 5 Day work week with primarily 8-9 hour shifts. 2-3 Saturday shifts per month with a minimum of 1 Saturday off per month excluding key dates and the month of December. Eagle Eye is closed every Sunday.
Physical Demands:
Stand/Walk for long periods of time. Daily lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 30 lbs. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and mental focus. Use of hands for firm and strong grasping. Frequent use of finger dexterity. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to reach with hands and arms. Ability to talk, hear, and communicate clearly with co-workers and customers. Occasional sitting in a normal position for short periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
